EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S CORNER
Easter is upon us! This is one of the most exciting times of the year for most of our churches. Some will even have to have additional worship services to accommodate the many people who will be attending. In addition to that, some will have extra holy week services, and some will have special Easter musical and/or dramatic presentations. It is my hope that many here and around the world will be drawn to our wonderful Savior through these opportunities and others like them.
Please note that our Rankin Baptist Vacation Bible School Clinic is scheduled fore April 19th at the FBC Richland. Please encourage your VBS team to come for this great training opportunity. The touching of children's lives is too important to take training lightly. There is a statistic that says that the number of children making decisions for Christ is directly proportional to the number of persons who are trained to work in VBS. When you realize that approximately one fourth of all baptisms in SBC churches come through VBS decisions, it helps you to see the importance of the schools and of being trained to do our best.
He IS RISEN!

Healing Touch Ministries
God is doing amazing things for us and in those to whom HTM is allowed to minister to. As many of you know Healing Touch Ministry has partnered with Southside Baptist Church to open a women's home and start Celebrate Recoveryin south Jackson in June. There are many needs to be met before we can take anyone in. Needs include sheet rock, painting, roofing, needs new stove, dishwasher, washer, dryer, yard cleaning, privacy fence and lots of love. If your church, or any individuals, would like to help or give money, please let us know. I promise you this, if you invest your money or time into HTM and Southside Baptist all the money and your efforts will go to help the hurting and the broken people of South Jackson and Rankin County. Neither you or your church will have to wonder where the money is going. We also need sponsorship for Amanda McDonald's salary as she will be in charge of overseeing the operations of the women's home.To you who give monthly and give time in prayer on our behalf I want you to know I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless!! Anthony Luke 10:2 |

FBC Brandon Mission Trip
Did you know First Baptist Church Brandon has an annual Family Mission Trip?
This experience allows families to serve together and make spiritual memories they all can share.
This year the church conducted two trips. One to New Orleans to work with Oak Forest Baptist
Church and one group went to Clarkston International Bible Church outside of Atlanta, Georgia.
The groups were a part of helping in a church-run daycare with construction and children's ministry, teaching English as a second language, prayer walking and after school tutoring. After the trip, each family has the opportunity for sightseeing and fun. First Baptist is committed to seeing
families serve together, and this annual trip makes the family unit stronger and more cohesive.
The youngest person to participate in the group was Caleb Lovejoy at two and ½ years old. And the oldest? Well, she would rather us not tell. But, anyone and any sized family can participate! Each night the teams concluded their
day of service with church group/family devotional time.
If you church is interested in planning a mission trip, please contact Mark Bowman or Beth Bowman at 601-825-6766.

VBS Offering Idea
Dear Partners in Missions:
Are you looking for a suggestion for your church's 2012 VBS Missions Offering?
For the 2nd year in a row, we are collecting VBS offerings to build a longhouse in Malaysia. This year 30 churches are needed to raise $900 each for a home building project for 30 families. These homes, called "longhouses," are constructed side by side. The cost of building a longhouse is $900 per family. Mississippi volunteer construction teams will be sent this summer to assist the locals in building the longhouses. This project will be supervised by one of our international workers.
An offering of only $900 can build a new home for a family. Our goal is for Mississippi churches to rebuild the entire community of 30 homes. The result of this collaborative effort would be an unbelievable and credible witness to the much larger community in Malaysia. We challenge you to be ONE of THIRTY churches to set a goal of $900 to build a home for a family in need.
Last year, our churches exceeded the goal of $20,700 and provided the funds to build homes for 23 families. Two Mississippi teams were sent in August and September to provide the labor for helping the families build their homes. As a result of this joint effort, homes were built but, more importantly, relationships were built and lives were changed. More than 34 Malaysians came to know Christ through the strong witness of the teams. To God be the glory!
A promotional DVD is available upon request. This DVD features the two Mississippi teams in action as well as the worker expressing his appreciation for the help of Mississippi churches. Feel free to pass this information along to your church's VBS leader.
Please contact me today if you would like to be ONE of 30 in setting a goal of $900. Of course, you can set your goal much higher and build more than ONE!
