"The Catalyst"

from - Jonathan Sherwin (Clear Branch)
Had a wonderful surprise visit from the great Director of Missions for Rankin Co. Bro. Allen Stephens this morning at CBBC. Thanks so much for your service to this great county, the state, and our world for the Lord, Jesus Christ.
 March 2012
A special Happy Birthday to Brother Allen -
70 wonderful years serving our Lord

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S CORNER

Our pastors' Book Club just read Michael Catt's book entitled "The Power of Persistence".  In it he shares a quote from Blaise Pascal:  "There are three kinds of people:  those who have sought God and found Him and are reasonable and happy; those who seek God and have not yet found Him, and these are reasonable and unhappy, and those who neither seek God nor find Him, and these are unreasonable and unhappy."  "Seeking God in prayer is simply foundational to the kind of life we all want.  The family, the home, the church and the nation will rise and fall on the basis of our prayers."  (Catt, p. 74)

It is my desire that all of our churches be known as praying churches and that each of us be known as praying individuals.  The truth is that none of us can be any stronger spiritually than our prayer lives.

Our Book Club has committed to becoming stronger in our prayer lives because of reading this book and being challenged to evaluate our praying.  Let's all accept Michael's challenge to know more fully the "power of persistence in prayer."

Allen H. Stephens, Executive Director

Love and Respect

Star Baptist Church will be hosting a "Love and Respect" Video Conference on Friday, March 30th & Saturday, March 31st.  These two words, love and respect, surface in social research and in the Bible (Ephesians 5:33) as the two key ingredients for a successful marriage.  From the research, those attending the video conference will experience understanding, forgiveness, reconciliation, change, and hope!  The conference isn't just for married couples, though; it also provides resources to divorced, separated, dating, & the single.  Men & women will learn how to resolve conflict, deal with negative reactions, and how to motivate each other by meeting each other's needs.

The schedule is as follows:

6:30pm-10:00pm - Conference
