"The Catalyst"

 January 2012

Praying that 2012 will present abundant opportunities to share the gospel

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S CORNER

2012 promises to be an exciting year for the Rankin County Baptist Churches. With our great Vacation Bible Schools, our terrific Bible Drills and Speakers' Tournament, our fantastic missions projects here and around the world and revival efforts in many of our churches. Also, there will be many special ministry opportunities in our own churches. In addition to that there will be marriage retreats, Bible Conferences and hookups for national conferences. This year the Mississippi Baptist Convention Evangelism Conference will be in our Association at the Brandon Baptist Church. This is a great opportunity for all of us to be challenged in our service to the Lord. Of course, these are just a few of the many opportunities for growth as Christians and for outreach to those who are outside our churches.

As you are making your New Year's resolutions, I hope that a closer walk with Jesus is at the top of your list. It is imperative that we seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior so that we can be the disciples that He wants up to be. Let's not let Him down. .

In His Service,

Prison Ministry updates

December 16th  eleven of us drove to Walnut Grove, Mississippi to sing Christmas Carols with the young men at Walnut Grove Youth Correctional Facility. It was a great evening of singing and passing out gifts to the inmates. For most of these boys that is all the Christmas they will have.  The guys sang and expressed their appreciation to us in so many ways. Most of them we actually got to shake their hands, give them a small gift and wish them a Merry Christmas. One group was not allowed to come out of their cells and we had to sing to them through their door and hand their gifts through a small opening in the door. They expressed their appreciation by beating on the walls or doors and shouting Merry Christmas.

There is no way to express what it is like to visit these guys and see their faces through a very small window in their cell door as they sing and celebrate the birth of our Savior. But on December 16, 2011 eleven people from the 3:16 Ministry team were able to share the love of Christ with an awful lot of young guys and It made our lives richer. Some in our group shared that they would never be the same.

I believe our Lord smiled Friday night and we were so aware of His presence.  To those of you who were able to go THANKS YOU.

To God be the Glory

The FP4H program is the result of Godly desire placed in the hearts of a group of Christians in Houston, Texas in 1981.  The result was a Christ-Centered weight loss and healthy living program that focuses on the four essentials of health and well-being:  the mind, emotions, body and spirit.  This total health program is not just about helping you lose, weight, it's about making a life-style change that will last a lifetime

Healing Touch Ministries

HTM continues to have Celebrate Recovery for men and women on Monday and Tuesday nights and our garage sale on Saturdays 7 am. to 12 pm. Starting in January, we will kick off our recycling ministry where we will collect aluminum cans, metal, brass and clothes. There will also be a Volunteer Training night for those who want to volunteer at HTM; this will be held at the Rankin Baptist Association on January 19th at 6:00 pm. At this meeting you will learn, 1. The vision of HTM. 2. How to get involved in the Jail Ministry. 3. How to get involved in the Garage Sale/Recycling Ministry. There is much more to be done; but, most importantly, there are many more souls to be saved. We ask for your continued support in this difficult but very rewarding ministry. Merry Christmas!!!     Luke 10:2 Anthony
P.S. Most of you and your friends are most likely on Facebook and Twitter. An easy way to keep up with what's happening with HTM is to search on Facebook "Healing Touch Ministry" or follow on Twitter at "HealingTouchMin." These sites are updated weekly. Social media is a great tool for ministries, and they are free.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. If you need to make room for all those Christmas gifts HTM is the place to donate. HTM takes furniture, appliances, electronics, clothes, scrap metal etc... All proceeds go to the efforts of saving lives. You can call me at 601-624-2125 to make arrangements. We are also going forward with our efforts at Southside Baptist in Jackson, MS to start a women's campus for those needing help with recovery. We are having a volunteer training on January 19 at 6:00 pm. at the Baptist Association in Pearl, MS as well. Much prayer is needed. Happy New Year!!! God Bless!   Anthony  Luke 10:2, Habakkuk 2:2
