The unexpected snow has created a festive mood in the Lexan greenhouse, where we are focused on the hundreds of holiday blooms that will greet visitors to the Garden December 2-4 for our annual Holiday Marketplace.

This week, Garden volunteers and horticulture students were busy preparing amaryllis for their one-month transformation from bulb to bloom. The pre-chilled southern hemisphere bulbs were potted in clay and decorative containers (favorites this year include Hippeastrum 'Ferrari,' H. 'Exotic Star,' H.'Matterhorn,' H. 'Faro' and our beloved steal-the-show beauty: H. 'Susan'). After a thorough watering, the next stop was the heating mats where strong, robust roots will develop over the next two weeks. By mid November, the plants' energy goes into creating the beautiful amaryllis flowers that so many have come to love about Holiday Marketplace.

Starting December 2, the Garden is transformed into a twinkling wonderland with a fabulous selection of gifts and greens for the holidays. You will be delighted by our lineup of vendors featuring handcrafted, one-of-a-kind gifts and delicacies, and enchanted by the legendary Gallery of Wreaths. Our Garden Shop will shine with Garden gift baskets, beautifully wrapped books and unique and wonderful gifts in all price ranges.
Every purchase supports the Garden!
