Allium schoenoprasum Chives Totally underestimated, chives are so much more than a baked potato topping! One use is to collect its stunning purple blossoms to make arguably one of the finest infused vinegars. Maintain its shocking pink color by keeping it out of the sunlight.
Tanacetum vulgare var. crispum Fern-Leaf Tansy Dried flower stems are attractive in arrangements and dried stems with foliage can be hung in rooms to repel flies.

The Herb Associates Want YOU!
 | | A team effort: from left, Duncan McQueen, Michele Bryski, Iris Bass, Fred Wurtemberger, Steve Miller and Shirley Miller |
Laugh, learn. . .and make herb mustard! Join an experienced team of herb experts, learn the art and science of herb products production, and have fun! There are many jobs to do including maintaining the organic herb production garden on site at BBG, harvesting and drying herbs and working in the kitchen to create the tasty products in high demand at the Garden Shop and Harvest Festival. For decades, Berkshire Botanical Garden's Herb Associates have created their own line of sumptuous products. This week, they were hard at work harvesting French tarragon for the infamous "J. Wilson's Tarragon French Dressing," a recipe brought out of retirement in 2009 for the Garden's 75th Anniversary. During June, Herb Associates will be making their signature jellies: mint, rose geranium, and grape rosemary. . .in addition to many other products. (Note: their herb mustard, California herb dressing, basil tomato dressing and herb salt are among the venerable favorites with recipes dating back to 1954. ) Join them Tuesdays, 9:30-noon at the Center House (located directly across the street from the Garden's main parking area). Bring a bagged lunch and be prepared for an upbeat morning at the Garden. For more information, please contact Steve Miller, srm@abcs.com.
