The Eleven Twelve Project

Volume #11
December, 2008

Greetings!
Every year, Christians buy Christmas presents for their family and friends.  As we think about what they'd like, sometimes we forget that the best gift they could ever receive is nothing we can wrap with fancy paper, for it's not a thing, but a person. Jesus is not only the reason for the season, he's the best Christmas Presence ever!

Perhaps someone on your shopping list would appreciate hearing about the real meaning of Christmas this year.  If so, why not direct them to our special seasonal story, The Best Christmas Presence Ever...it will be online until January 1st.

May the Presence that is yours already, continue to be your most treasured gift, and one God enables you to share more effectively with those you love who need Him.

Sincerely,

Scott McIntyre

God Can be Known
We don't have to be intimidated by anyone who says you can't know that God exists.

In an early letter to Christians in Rome, one of Christ's followers claimed God could be known.  He stated that "...since the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made."

His conclusion was even more startling. Because of this evidence that all humans could see and experience, he said, "men are without excuse" when they claim not to know if God exists.  Romans 1:18-23

If we know that passage is true, we don't really need any more than that to be confident of God's existence, do we?

Rather than be intimidated by the disbelief of a friend, pray for those who may be without Christ, and ask for an opportunity to share the Savior...someone you love, needs Him.

Carving Out Evangelistic Prayer Time
All too often, our desire to pray for those who don't know Christ is there, but our busy schedule impedes our way.  Here's a simple plan to help you create time in your day for evangelistic praying.

Step #1 - Select an action, from the choices below, that you do regularly, or choose one that's personal to you and not listed.
Drinking a glass of water; checking email; starting the car; sitting down to eat; filling out your time card; buying something; pouring a cup of coffee, or switching the radio station.
Step #2 - Email your choice to us. (optional, but we'd like to see your creativity)

Step #3 - Make a list of people you want God to save.

Step #4 - Post the list where you perform your selected action.

Step #5 - Spend a set amount of time in prayer for the people on your list, every time you finish the item you selected.

Result of Implementing the Plan

Assuming you complete an activity only twice a day and pray for just one minute each time, you'll log 12 hours in the Throne Room of Grace in the next year.  That's like having a one hour monthly prayer meeting to focus solely on those without Christ.  That's meaningful!

And something else might happen.  God loves to soften our hearts when we pray.  So don't be surprised if somewhere down the line you find yourself loving, in a deeper way than before, those who so desperately need the forgiveness of Christ.

International Students Inc.
As I read through part of ISI's website, I found several principals that I need to remember to follow.  Test yourself against what ISI stands for and see how you score.

1.  They want to establish friendships: We can invite people to church, but wouldn't invite them over for a meal.

2. They provide services to students: We can forget that service was modeled by our Savior and King.

3. They share God when there's an interest: We can fail to ask for permission before we share.

4. Their service and friendship is offered unconditionally: We can be helpful when it suits us.

5.  They will not pressure students spiritually: We can justify a little arm twisting because the stakes are so high.

Sounds a lot like they are trying to pattern their ministry after the life of Christ.  May we all major in the behavior of our Savior.

I started this issue by telling you that Jesus is the greatest gift we can ever receive, and that He is the best present we can offer those who don't currently call Him Savior.

As God continues to make you into the image of the Son who died to save us, may His love overflow your heart, and spread to your friends and family who are without this Great Presence.

May you and yours have a blessed and holy Christmas!

Sincerely,

Scott McIntyre

Can you imagine having a conversation with someone and being ridiculed or ignored?

That won't happen the next time you go to the throne room of grace.

And while you're there, we wouldn't mind it a bit if you talked to him about us.  We are always in need of His limitless grace!
