The Eleven Twelve Project

Volume 4
December 2007

Greetings!
It's the Christmas season and shopping days are already slipping away.  As you think about what your family and friends would like, remember that the best gift they could ever receive is nothing you can put under their tree, for it's not a thing, but a person.  Jesus is not only the reason for the season, he's the best Christmas Presence ever!

If you know someone who might be ready to read about the real meaning of Christmas, our special seasonal story, The Best Christmas Presence Ever, will be online until January 1st.

May the Presence that is yours already, continue to be your most treasured gift, and one God enables you to share more effectively with those you love who need Him.

Sincerely,

Scott McIntyre

X-treme Power
Your friends have many great needs if they have not received the promise of heaven through faith in Christ, and you won't be able to meet even one of them.  You're going to have to rely on someone else to help...God.

They need to want him: God alone can draw them.

They need to recognize their sin: God makes it clear.

They need unshakeable faith: God gives total certainty.

They need to be reborn: God can give them new life.

They need a new character: God does Extreme Makeovers.

They need eternal life: God holds them personally.

They need real peace: God gives faith; peace follows.

They need lasting hope: God is the source of hope.

We do not have to be strong and persuasive Christians, full of wisdom and perfect in character, to get our friends to heaven.  We just need to know where to look for the power necessary to bring spiritual life to the dead.  We will find that power in God!

Love is Real, Not Perfect
Sometimes, we think we need to be all shiny paper and fancy bows on the outside to have a chance to affect friends for Christ.  We're afraid to let them see the plain brown paper we sometimes are.

In reality, our friends usually know when the outside wrapping is just for show.  What they want is for you and me to love them and be real.

Here are three ways to let the real you that God is working on shine through.

1.  Don't hide your discouragement - Life is hard and ups and downs are expected.  Let them see you seek help through prayer or the wisdom of a more mature Christian.  Don't be fake, they may have their hypocrisy radar on!

2.  Say, "I don't know." - If something has caused them to question God, stay away from pat, cliche answers.  Crying with them and admitting you still don't understand everything either, is ok.

3.  Love them in their sin - We don't get mad at infants when they fall while learning to walk.  Nor would we become angry with a blind friend, for stumbling over something in an unfamiliar room.  Well, sin for the person without Christ, is just as unavoidable.

It's not easy to be real.  Remember though, our friends know what fake looks like.  They want and need your love and most will be willing to put up with your imperfections when they trust your intentions.

Forgiveness Ministries
Our newest Resource Ministry, Forgiveness Ministries is dedicated to helping people develop a lifestyle of authentic, biblical forgiveness, and helping churches become better communities of forgiveness and not just communities of the forgiven.

How They Can Help with Evangelism
By hosting one of their Forgiveness Seminars, a church can...
Enable their members to move toward greater emotionally and spiritual wholeness. The  healthier a Christian is, the more they are able to love the people around them with the love of Jesus.

Expose the unconvinced in the church to the message of Christ's forgiveness, since that's where the most complete human forgiveness starts.
And, if you or someone you know would like to major in the forgiving behavior of our Savior, don't wait for your church to schedule a Forgiveness Seminar.  Visit their website and find out when one will be held near you.
