The Eleven Twelve Project

Volume #16
December 2009

Greetings!
It's the Christmas season and shopping days are already slipping away.  As you think about what your family and friends would like, remember that the best gift they could ever receive is nothing you can put under their tree, for it's not a thing, but a person.  Jesus is not only the reason for the season, he's the best Christmas Presence ever!

If you know someone who might be ready to read about the real meaning of Christmas, our special seasonal story, The Best Christmas Presence Ever, will be online until January 1st.

May the Presence that is yours already, continue to be your most treasured gift, and one God enables you to share more effectively with those you love who need Him.
Sincerely,

Scott McIntyre

Drama on Craigslist
At Easter, I post an article on His Grace Creations.  The article shares the Christian message of Easter, and I place 'ads' on Craigslist encouraging people to read the article.  Here's an example of one of those ads.
Do you think Jesus and the Easter Bunny are myths?  Our furry friend, the Easter Bunny can seem more believable in many ways than Jesus Christ.  That does not necessarily make Jesus a myth however.

I encourage you to read The Easter Puzzle, at His Grace Creations, if you want to learn more about this Jesus.
One day I got this reply from someone who read an ad on Craigslist.
"Jesus is a myth, just like the Easter Bunny.  Please stop posting your crap on Craigslist, you're not getting my money."
What Could I Do Next?
That's the question we'll be asking when we post a 'Good News Clues' article.  Now we want to hear your answer!  Should I try to make them realize I didn't want their money?  Is there a scripture they might listen too?  What could I say that would make them realize that Jesus is real?  Should I even bother answering?

What do you think would have been a good reply?

In upcoming issues of the newsletter, we'll finish the rest of our story, 'Drama on Craigslist', share some of the answers we receive from subscribers, draw some conclusions from the clues presented, and give a few practical ways you can implement what you've learned.

His Grace Creations is a site I developed for personal evangelism, that is now an outreach of Share the Savior to people undecided about Christianity.

Who Says YOU Have to Share?
Believe it or not, there's no spiritual law against letting someone else do the talking sometime. If you're timid, not sure of what to say, afraid you've already turned them off, or just want to offer a fresh perspective, here are two ways you can introduce a friend to the truth about Jesus, while staying in the background.

Evangelistic Crusades: Find out if the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association will be having a crusade near you and accompany a friend or family member to hear the gospel.

If you don't know anyone who needs to be exposed to the message of salvation, you could consider volunteering for the crusade as a counselor.  You'll receive excellent training that will prepare you to share Christ with people attending the crusade.

Your Living Room: Don't overlook the one place that can be very warm and inviting.  Turn your entertainment center into a location where the gospel can be heard and discussed.  Who knows... maybe God will grant a neighbor the gift of faith in front of your TV.

Do your evangelism efforts hit the mark?  The annual On Target Evangelism Conference aims to help you do just that.  This year's focus is: The Disciple-Making Process.

Learn who will be speaking, and what they'll be sharing, and then make plans to attend.  You can even print a flyer to give to friends or post at your church.

Tips for Effective Spiritual Discussions
Sometimes our best intentions don't seem to help our friend move toward salvation.  Occasionally, our efforts might even put a strain on the relationship with a friend or family member.  What can we do?

Here are four suggestions to start practicing whenever you get an opportunity.

1.  Trust God for the outcome.  You can start this most important suggestion now by praying and then keep on praying.

2.  Don't think you have to know all the answers.  The phrase, "I don't know" shows honesty and humility; traits in a Christian quite refreshing to many who don't know the Savior.

3.  Stay away from arguing or trying to prove your point.  Remember it is the Spirit that brings people to a place where they will believe and trust.

4.  Focus on understanding.  If you know they have understood what you are trying to communicate, you've done the job God wants.

Want a strategy that could help you utilize these four tips?  Read the article, Jump Starting Spiritual Conversations, on our website.

Stand for Truth Ministries
Would you know what to say if a friend told you that truth is relative? How would you respond to hearing someone say that the idea of God is irrational, or that the Bible was irrelevant?. Stand for Truth Ministries exists to help us answer those questions because according to their founder, "today more than ever, Christians must be aware, prepared and equipped to defend the faith."  We agree!

Stand for Truth is dedicated to equipping believers to stand for the truth of the historic Christian faith, grow more intimate in their relationship with God, and lovingly and biblically engage the culture for Christ. The strategy they use to fulfill this purpose consists of:

1. Articles
2. Public Speaking / Seminars
3. Teaching Curriculums
4. Radio
5. Conferences
6. Newsletters

They say, "we live in a time where we have replaced our heroes with celebrities. A time, in which, we have traded in our patience for our passions, morality for money, and sadly, the truth for a lie."

Doesn't that sound like the world you and I live in?

Couldn't we all Stand for Truth more?

When the last present has been opened, the Christmas meal completed, and friends and family have gone home, we'll still have Jesus.  Wouldn't it be great if someone you love, who needs Him, could have the best Christmas Presence ever?

We hope you think about that as you read, and maybe reread the articles in this issue, and ask the Father how your role in the process of a friend's salvation could be more effective this year than ever before.

Sincerely,

Scott McIntyre
