ARCHITYPE Handbags Sponsors

Blessings in a Backpack at Star-Studded Hollywood Event

Jennifer Lawrence & Hilary Duff receive hand-stitched, American-made bags in recognition of their work

Louisville, KY (February 1, 2011) - ARCHITYPE Handbags and Gallery partners, Charlotte Stengel and Dena Wilson, were proud to sponsor the recent Kentucky Derby Prelude Party in Los Angeles.  They joined a host of celebrities, athletes, business leaders, and horse industry professionals at the event, which was held to support the efforts of the Julep Ball's associated charities, Blessings in a Backpack and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.

Academy Award and Golden Globe nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence, a Louisville native, came straight from the airport to support her hometown charities.  She received the Architype Duffel as an acknowledgment of her nominee-worthy work in Winter's Bone.

Hilary Duff, recording artist, actress, designer, and philanthropist, has supported Blessings in a Backpack for over six years.  She attended the Kentucky Derby Prelude Party with founder Stan Curtis.  She was presented with the Architype Mandala bag in recognition of her dedication to the organization and her sponsorship of Los Angeles' Normandie Elementary School, where she feeds over 1100 students per week.

Architype's Stengel and Wilson have long supported the work of Blessings in a Backpack, which was founded in Louisville, KY, by Stan Curtis.  They welcomed the opportunity to substantially increase the level of their support when they were asked to become one of the corporate sponsors of the Kentucky Derby Prelude Party in Los Angeles.

Sponsorship included a financial contribution along with handbags for the silent auction and the fashion show, and the design and production of a custom leather luggage tag for the VIP gift bags.  The partners mixed and mingled with Hollywood and Louisville luminaries who were on hand to enjoy an unseasonably beautiful evening on the rooftop pool deck of the London West Hollywood Hotel, while they supported Louisville, the Kentucky Derby, and the benefiting charities.

Architype's designer, Charlotte Stengel, is currently at work designing a bag whose profits will benefit Blessings in a Backpack, a unique program designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federal free and reduced meal program.  Many of these children have little or no food on the weekends.  Every Friday, kids in schools that participate in the Blessings in a Backpack program get a backpack filled with easy-to-prepare and ready-to-eat food.  On Monday, the kids return the backpacks, ready to learn.  Then the cycle begins the next Friday.
