The "Three C" Business Trends In 2009 For Conscious Entrepreneurs![]()
No doubt you're seeing more and more examples
of the new paradigm shift in business. For
conscious entrepreneurs - individually and
collectively - we are just coming into our
own. Every day I see examples of the new
direction our world is headed. From politics
to the impact on our economy, from health and
beauty to concern for the earth, these are
very interesting times.
For the first time in my 43 years, I'm truly aligned with my purpose for being. What lies ahead is the true reason I was born. Everything is coming into crystal-clarity as each day passes. Every moment until now has led purposefully to these current moments and I've never felt more alive. How about you? There are no models or mentors for us. it is we who carve the way and set the tone for others to soon follow We are in the process of creating and laying the foundation for the next evolutionary jump... the basis of our future. We are being prompted and assisted as never before and must step into our own to bring forth a new message. This new message is one of great hope. What may seem to be the world falling apart around us is the falling away of what no longer works or fits. Whether it has served us well is a matter of opinion. No matter, it served to deliver us to the here-and-now. What falls away must be replaced with something else. If you understand the "vacuum effect," space must be created first, for something that's a much better fit to fill that space. That's why we're seeing such dramatic swings to every extreme. It's an exciting time. - either consciously or subconsciously - you chose to be an integral part of this global shape-shifting experience We each have an important role to play with no role more or less vital than any other. We are known by many names; trendsetters, lightworkers, LOHAS, waymakers, visionaries, pioneers, explorers, trailblazers, innovators, groundbreakers, founders, conscious creators or co-creators, etc. The name is inconsequential. The spirit we bring to everything we do is unmistakable. We are recognized by the vibration of calm and clarity. People are naturally drawn to what they instinctively need most. And the masses are desperate to feel even a little better. As lightworkers, this is where our service to humankind comes in. Those who exude confidence during this time of transition - between the old and new paradigms - have been endowed with a great responsibility... one of the highest callings in service to others. We work in absolute, effortless peace, bringing comfort and love to those who are fraught with fear. When others are consumed with the blind perception that there's no hope, often our mere presence provides a much-needed glimmer of renewed trust that on the grand scale everything is really okay. We'll be alright. Lightworkers and conscious entrepreneurs need not focus on tasking, but simply being. Within the seeming lack of solid foundation or "security," lies infinite possibility. That's where we are now. On the precipice of nothing we've ever seen, known, or experienced. So, based on this background, here are the "Three C" Business Trends for 2009: 1. Community 2. Collaboration 3. Cooperation Let's examine them one-by-one to explore the possibilities. 1. Community Old paradigm | Interactions limited to those contacts within geographic proximity New paradigm | MySpace, Twitter, YouTube... and the list goes on! Online communities are popping up everywhere. Ongoing interaction and frequent, but quick daily hellos create incredible bonds of support with people around the globe. This method of friendly interaction -- and a form of accountability, if it's structured properly -- often creates connections stronger than those established via traditional methods. Even five years ago, this phenomenon didn't exist to this extent. It makes one wonder what another five years will bring. Breaking into online communities can seem daunting, but start with one. There's no rush. They aren't going anywhere! Be as much of a contributor as beneficiary. The old adage applies: You get out of something as much as you put in. 2. Collaboration Old paradigm | Competition New paradigm | Collaboration Let's finally free ourselves from limiting beliefs that anyone who is in our same field is a competitor. There's enough for all of us. Besides, no one can do what you do like you! And you cannot do things like your fellow entrepreneurs. Stand strong in this knowledge. It makes so much more sense to pair your strengths with those of others in the spirit of cooperation (see "Cooperation" below). This provides double the exposure and double the possibilities. Isn't that infinitely better than doing everything yourself? Continued adherence to the philosophy of competitiveness will only result in less and less effectiveness. Adoption and incorporation of collaborative concepts will certainly propel you forward... in business and in life. 3. Cooperation Old paradigm | Exclusive, selective and often exclusionary New paradigm | All-encompassing and inclusionary Different from collaboration, cooperation is the general spirit in which we go about conducting the business of our lives. We don't necessarily pair our energies with others (see "Collaboration" above), but instead serve -- in some capacity -- anyone who crosses our path. Cooperation is assistance or ready compliance with requests. Taken to the extreme, of course, we cannot be available or accessible to everyone. If we were, we wouldn't be smart business owners. Imagine if you personally took every telephone call and answered every email. Horrors! You'd never have time for anything else! Emphasis on the third "C" highlights an attitude of willingness to enter into balanced and cooperative exchanges wherein both parties benefit. It puts the benefit of the person in front of you as high as your own interest. It is timely responses to inquiries. It is a willingness to respond with something even if it means a referral to a trusted vendor, mentor or fellow collaborator. Your products and services are not a best fit for every potential client, but you may know where to send them next. This information, provided in a timely and friendly fashion, is the foundation of a cooperative relationship. Instead of saying, "I cannot help you," as time and energy allow, generously provide a Web link, contact name, or other resource your prospect may not know about. All people need is the next step, not necessarily the entire plan. Do what you can with what you know. Share as much as possible. This commitment to cooperation has many benefits. One most prominent is it screams of your willingness to be of assistance even when it may not directly benefit you. People take notice of this and, more importantly, remember your kindness. This approach often later translates into solid referrals and sales. There they are... the "Three C" Business Trends for 2009. Practice them. Incorporate them. Fully assimilate them so there is no noticeable seam between your words and your actions. They make the road easier to living the new paradigm and places you in the prominent position of strong leader and innovative entrepreneur... and one to watch -- and follow -- for further trend-setting developments. |

Change-o-seasons
![]() Autumn is my favorite season. I seem to come alive as the weather changes to clear skies and cool, brisk wind. This week I'm spending time with one of my closest friends. We're enjoying the vibrant colors of fall, her wood stove, afternoon movies, eating comfort food and crossing our fingers in hopes of me being here for the first snow of the season. Friendship is a true treasure. Sharing the simple joys in life make it even more rewarding. It's cool being older -- I'm 43. Friendship has never meant as much as it does now. Laughing, talking, trading life stories... it all just seems more rich this fall. In Sisterhood, Light & Love, ![]()
