Colleague

Hello and Welcome to EditCopyProof's weekly outpouring of valuable information to propel your business and inspire your soul.

Every edition contains an eclectic compilation. Whatever happens during the week ends up in this UNnewsletter.

You are in the yawn-free zone when this publication arrives in your mailbox each Monday because I promise to deliver the best of the best. Take what works for you and discard the rest.

Business and pleasure. Pleasure and business. The lines cross so frequently for entrepreneurs, it's often impossible to separate the two. They blend so beautifully, why even try?

That's the basis of this publication. You get a full dose of business-related topics as well as content having nothing at all to do with business. I have no doubt you'll find something to enhance your life. Enjoy!

Entrepreneurs Ask...
Charlon Bobo   Give Me The Smartest Business Investment Tip "Under the Radar" Because It's So Simple

Radar
On a regular basis, invest in paid consultations with experts.

This nominal investment gives you private, one-on-one access to a pro... and essentially, everything they know. It's time and money very well invested in the life of your business.

It's impossible to remain "in the know" on marketing, sales, technology, trends, industries, systems, and the hoard of other subjects related to maintaining a successful business. Focus on what you do best and pay others to do what they do best based on their business interests. This frees your time and energy.

Here are 5 points to making the most of your paid consultation:
  1. Beforehand, think about how this meeting will enhance your business. Be specific and strategic.

  2. Prepare a list of questions ahead-of-time based on the person's knowledge and area of expertise.

  3. Set one goal for the consultation, e.g. bringing you up-to-date on the latest trends in marketing, how to increase Web sales, recommendations for technology, setting up efficient office procedures, hiring a virtual assistant, etc.

  4. Briefly tell the consultant about your business and ask about the other services they provide. Ask how they might be able to help you further.

  5. Ask to have the session recorded and an MP3 or WAV file emailed to you afterwards so you can focus on the content during your session instead of taking notes.

Setting more than one goal is not recommended because, as you well know, entrepreneurship is swimming with possibilities. The entrepreneurs I know all over-deliver, so after a one-hour consult your head will be spinning!

There is a well of knowledge as close as email or the telephone. Take advantage of the vast expertise of others and pay them for their time to share it with you. This saves you many hours and many dollars by not having to learn it all yourself.

Smart, huh?

Marketing 101
Charlon Bobo   Fathers: An overlooked market

Dad
If you're ignoring fathers in your marketing or advertising, you're making a big mistake.

Dads are taking on an increasing role in the home and making a growing share of the household purchases. But because the messages that appeal to moms usually don't resonate with dads, you need to present your products or services in a dad-friendly way.

If you're serious about reaching this huge, untapped market, an excellent place to begin is at Armin Brott's Web site.

From the Editor's Desk
Charlon Bobo   Well? CharlonHead

During a recent daily telephone conversation with one of my sister-friends, she asked me, "What did you do for yourself today?"

I hesitated. The silence was deafening. She asked, "Are you still there?" I was, but I had to think really hard about what I did for myself. I was glad to come up with something, but that isn't the case every day.

It takes a conscious effort to do for ourselves. With demands pressing from every angle, it's easy to think you'll get to yourself when everything else is finished. Girlfriend, you'll never be finished! I don't care how smart, savvy or organized you are.

My advice? Do for yourself every day.

Now, what did you do for yourself today?
