CSBG State Cuts?

As those of you who attended the Legislative Summit earlier this month will recall, several CAPs expressed concern that certain state governments are indicating that they may fund CSBG outlays at 50 percent based on the Administration's proposed budget.  This is obviously a major problem for our network as both the House and the Senate versions of the Labor H Appropriations bill funds CSBG at FY2011 levels. Cuts of this size would not only go against the intentions of Congress, but would undoubtedly be devastating for the CAA network.

We are working on getting this issue resolved at the federal level and currently are considering several strategies. However, in order for us to be most effective, it would be extremely helpful for us to hear from any programs who have heard of this occurring in their state.  If you have had your state government indicate that they will fund CSBG at 50% in FY2012 please send an email to Caitrin McCarron (caitrinmccarron@ncaf.org) who will be compiling a database of these issues.
