Quik-FACTS

We continue to push to get the remainder of FY2011 CSBG dollars released. We know that many of your agencies are running critically short of CSBG and other program dollars. You should be aware of the following:

  • OCS released 30 days of funding to the states late last week. That money is available for the states to draw down and to pass on to local agencies.
  • We have asked OCS to send a communication to the states encouraging them to put out this funding to the local agencies. Our worry is that, traditionally, states have preferred not to release CSBG funding in such small increments. Your agency should contact your state for funding.
  • Other programs in the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) find themselves in a similar funding interruption.
  • The bottleneck appears to be OMB.
  • We've been asking members to call OMB. If your congressional representative inquires about this problem, ask them to call OMB, as well as NCAF.
  • OCS is doing their best to resolve this issue.

NCAF continues to be heavily engaged in this issue and we will update you with further developments.
