UPDATE #1: Release of 2011 CSBG Allocations

We are very aware of the stresses that CAAs are undergoing because there has been no CSBG flowing to states from the Treasury in the month since the final appropriation bill passed.

We have been raising the pressure on OCS; I spoke with key HHS staff  and was told they planned to release 30 days worth  of funding while OMB is working out the balance.  We said that is completely unacceptable now that the final 2011 are clear.

I then took the issue to key Senate supporters, and now calls have been made to OMB Director Lew to break the logjam.

House Members are planning to call Secretary Sebelius if need be. The Michigan delegation has been especially vigorous in pursuit of a rapid release of the badly-needed cash flow.
