National Community Action Foundation

April 26, 2011

Greetings!

I would like to thank you for becoming a member of the National Community Action Foundation and joining the fight to save the federal funding that is crucial for Community Action Agencies in your state and throughout the country.

Many of you have asked what you can do to help.
NCAF Logo (2009)

First, you can encourage other members of your community to join NCAF by informing them that NCAF works to maintain funding for CAA programs and to shape future policy on a broad range of issues, including: the Community Services Block Grant, welfare reform, Head Start, child care, weatherization, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, workforce development, housing and shelter for the homeless, health, nutrition, tax and income policy, and energy conservation programs.

Second, you can support NCAF's Political Action Committee. Community Action Programs Political Action Committee or "CAP-PAC" is a powerful tool for our lobbying efforts. NCAF receives a lot of requests to contribute to Congressional campaigns and invitations to fundraising events for members of Congress who hold important positions on key committees. Attending these events is an essential part of engaging these members.

By law, NCAF may not directly make political contributions, nor may individual Community Action Associations, or CAA State and Regional Associations. CAP-PAC gives employees and friends of CAAs the legal means to participate in the political process.  Because CAP-PAC is an affiliated PAC of NCAF, only NCAF members can contribute to CAP-PAC. You have the power to participate.

As a member of NCAF, you can help spread our message and garner the support we need to save CAAs federal funding. You can:

Thank you again for your support and action in this crucial time in our history.

Sincerely,
