Heavenly Father, Holy is thy Name. Father, please bless me with the same courage, faith, hope and zeal that you gave Joshua, Caleb, Daniel and even Paul.

Father, I thank you for the facts about their lives and their love for you. I hope and pray that I make you proud of me like they did so that I can be a genuine blessing to my family, the church and everywhere I go.

Thank you Father, for listening to me and answering this prayer. In Jesus' name.  Amen.

The Godly Woman's Guide: Weekly Inspiration
Our Eternal Heroes
Monday, September 5, 2011

As godly women, we love our Father and seek to please him each and every day. Therefore, as a godly woman, I want to have the same courage and faith that Joshua and Caleb had. Don't you? I love their story and feel like I have a front-row seat as their tale unfolds! Out of 12 spies chosen to spy on their enemies, they were the only two not afraid to face their foes and consequently the only ones out of two million people to get to enter the Promised Land. (Book of Numbers) What awesome dedication and trust they possessed!  Who doesn't want that type of faith, hope, and courage? I know I do!  We all do!

Oh, the story of Daniel and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. (Book of Daniel) I want to be like them for they too had awesome courage and faith--they all risked their lives for God and the truth. Daniel slumbered with a ferocious lion and Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego sat in a scorching furnace! Fearless men they all were! Like a child at a candy store, I bounce up and down and whine, "I want to be like Daniel!"

Paul was dynamic as well. He had faith and zeal that I aspire for daily. (Book of Acts) Talk about forgetting the past!  Many people with his past wouldn't have tried to move forward, especially in the direction he went. But he didn't let his horrific past stop him one bit, and if anyone had reason to feel guilty or ashamed about their past, it was definitely him! What a champion for Christ!

Of course we cannot forget the Son of God, Christ Jesus. He fearlessly spoke the truth to the religious leaders of his time and refused to tell them what they wanted to hear, though it probably would've saved his life. And he faced an awful death on the cross--the most humiliating way to die of his time--for all of us sinners. The ultimate champion of champions!

There is much to do in our lives as women of God, and it takes similar courage, faith and hope that all our Bible heroes had to fulfill our mission. Therefore, we do well to remember that these are our eternal and real heroes (supermen, champions). And we must not forget that these events did happen to actual people on our planet. They are meant to encourage us, increase our faith and hope, and give us strength each day so that we won't feel alone in our struggles--which is why our loving Father had them written down in the first place, just for us!

"Let the whole world glorify the Lord; let it sing his praise. The Lord will march forth like a mighty hero; he will come out like a warrior, full of fury.  He will shout his battle cry and crush all his enemies" (Isaiah 42:12-13 NLT).
