4) Parting Thought - About "Auld Lang Syne" "This song, often attributed to Scotland's favorite poet, Robert Burns, is often sung at New Year's celebrations. 'Auld lang syne' literally means 'old long ago'. A better translation is perhaps 'times gone by.'" Read the lyrics and brief history of this old tune--and its even older origins. ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ 5) Worth Repeating "It is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked." - Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931), American writer and poet of Lebanese (Maronite Christian) origin. Though most know him for his English poetry--and prose work, The Prophet--Gibran wrote in Arabic, too; additionally, he was a sculptor and had studied with Auguste Rodin (The Thinker). According to Wikipedia, Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu. He was returned to his native Lebanon for burial at his request. ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ ~:~ 6) Verse of the Week "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
