Homeschooling Around the WorldHOMESCHOOLING AROUND THE WORLD
Sweden and Sweden's Neighbor: Finland
While Sweden has all but eliminated parents' ability to choose homeschooling, and homeschoolers there wonder if they will have to choose between their homeland and homeschooling, Finland preserves that basic right and even chooses to buy schoolbooks for homeschoolers in some locations. Interestingly, Swedish is one of the two official languages in Finland (the other, of course, is Finnish).

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

"Savor the Season" by Rick Boyer

Virginia's own Rick Boyer, homeschooling dad of 14, grandpa, and HEAV board member, looks back to when his kids didn't mind being hugged. Money might be short, but Rick reminds us to do what is truly important: Savor our irreplaceable time.

4) Parting Thought - There is None Like Our God
Enjoy this beautiful, prayerful music performed by choristers from the Shabbaton Choir of London, England. The lyrics are from the Hebrew Prayer Book and are based on Isaiah 45:5 - "I [am] the LORD, and [there is] none else, [there is] no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me..."

5) Worth Repeating
"It is the duty of every man to render to the Creator such homage, and such only, as he believes to be acceptable to him. This duty is precedent both in order of time and degree of obligation, to the claims of Civil Society. Before any man can be considered as a member of Civil Society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe."
- James Madison, (1751-1836), fourth President of the United States, "Father of the Constitution," and "Father of the Bill of Rights." See the website of his home, Montpelier, Virginia.

One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
