Every Tuesday - Bring your friends!
Our Tuesday Nite Food Trucks have been oh so popular. The Tuesday Nite Truck parties continue throughout the Fall. With band practice on Tuesday nights, we encourage you to come out, select your favorite foods and watch the band practice. The trucks are at the front Amador parking lot from 4:30-9pm. There's even time for the students to grab a quick bite. No reason to ever cook on Tuesday nights. Remember that the band earns a portion of all truck proceeds. It has been a wonderful weekly fundraising source for us. Hope to see you there.

Uniform Fitting Almost Complete!
I'm happy to say the marching band uniform fitting went very smoothly last week! We had about 35 volunteers, many of whom came on multiple days. Also, several people stayed late or pitched in at the last minute during the last day-and-a-half, when we really needed help. Many thanks!!! It was truly a team effort! The different fitting schedule we used this year, asking students to come with their section, significantly improved the flow of students, and made the process much more manageable. Our fantastic section leaders were also there to guide the freshmen through the process, which allowed the volunteers to focus on their tasks.
A make-up fitting was held on Tuesday, 8/28, in the afternoon before practice, and several more students were fitted.
If your student has not been fitted with a uniform, please contact me at so we can arrange for a make-up fitting.
Shoes have been ordered for those students who did not receive them last week. Also, many students have pants that are being hemmed. These items will be ready sometime in the next two or three weeks, before the uniform inspection. Items are typically distributed on a Tuesday evening. Check the newsletter for the announcement.
Also, students should have already turned in their signed uniform contracts to Mr. Grantham. Contracts can be downloaded from the website. If your student needs any of their uniform information (such as pants size and number), send me an email and I will provide that information for you.
More information to come next time!

Wow, what a start!
The 2012-13 school year is off and so are the Marching Dons. Band camp was our most successful in my 11 starts at Amador and the kids are working hard on this years show, called "The Bride". The start of the marching season would not be possible without a lot of behind the scenes work to get things ready for 285 students and each band family. There are dozens of volunteers who put in a great deal of time before band camp to get things ready. Thank you to each person who helped. I would like to share a special thank-you to Cathy Needham (band registration) and Gale Naylor (uniform fittings) and their committees and volunteers for helping these two large parts of our band program run smoothly and efficiently. Look here in the coming weeks for more information on schedules and details as we begin our performances in late September. Your help is needed... thank you to Ellen Pensky, VP of Fundraising, for all of the work with the very successful food trucks on Tuesday nights! Helping hands are needed in setting up a few tables and chairs before band practice and tearing down tables and chairs after band practice. Parents and students are needed to assist. Proceeds from these events are going directly to the funding of our Fiesta Band Championship trip in December. Many hands make light work and with 280+ students and 400+ parents in the band family, we have many hands! Thanks for doing your part. Here is to a great season! Go Dons.
