RA News
(Responsible Adult)

The 2012/13 marching band season is fast approaching and it's going to be an exciting one!

RAs have the essential task of safely getting this large band to and from competitions and on and off the field. Many jobs, large and small, are available to ALL who want to be involved. Click here for a detailed description of RA duties.

This will be my 7th and last year as a Responsible Adult and Head RA for the AVHS Marching Dons. My youngest daughter is a senior! I am looking for someone who wants to work with an amazing group of band students and their amazingly helpful volunteer parents. This job could be shared between a couple of volunteers. Please contact me if you are interested in this position and would like to know more!

Greetings Amador Marching Band Families

 

Summer is almost over and band camp begins in just a few short days.  Freshmen camp is this Saturday August 18th from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Lunch time is scheduled for about 12:00.
 
Please be sure your student wears clothing that is appropriate for movement and follows the school dress code.  T-shirts and stretchy shorts are most appropriate.  Also, be sure they are wearing appropriate exercise shoes that they would wear for a PE class.  No sandals or flip flops are allowed.
 
Your student should bring plenty of water to camp as it may be very hot.  Although not required, a gallon jug that they can use every week will provide the right amount of water for a really hot Saturday practice.  Several of the 16oz bottles will work just as well.
 
Note that MARCHING BAND registration times are:     
Saturday, August18   9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Monday, August 20   8:30 - 9:30 a.m. and 8:00 - 9:15 p.m.
This is to register your child for marching band only.
 
School Registration and classroom assignment is as follows:
Tuesday, August 21   
12:00 - 1:45 pm last names that begin with W - Z
1:45 - 3:30 pm last names that begin with S - V
3:30 - 5:15 pm last names that begin with P - R AND M - O
Please note that students with last names the begin with M - O the 3:30 - 5:15 time slot is earlier for band students only so they can return to band camp by 5:00
 
Wednesday, August 22   
12:00 - 1:45 pm last names that begin with J - L
1:45 - 3:30 pm last names that begin with G - I
3:30 - 5:15 pm last names that begin with D - F AND A - C
Please note that students with last names the begin with A - C the 3:30 - 5:15 time slot is earlier for band students only so they can return to band camp by 5:00
 
AVHS Freshman Orientation...
This is an optional event for the class of 2016 held during our band camp opening session on Monday morning.  Band students are required to attend band camp.  Not to worry though...the biggest piece of information that comes from the orientation is a campus tour.  Band freshmen will be given a personal tour by their section leaders during band camp and will be able to ask questions and learn about how to get around campus from a band senior they know and trust.
 
I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for the parent meeting at 7:00 in the band room.
