Fiesta Fun Good news! Learn More!

fiesta logo

We have news to share about our upcoming exciting Fiesta Fun trip. Scheduling issues with the Fiesta Bowl program means that our trip will be shortened with a departure date of December 26 and return on Jan 1. We still have an amazing program planned with a trip to Disneyland and Santa Monica AND THE COST WILL BE REDUCED.

Important Fiesta Fun Meeting: Please Join Us

Monday, May 21st at 8:00-9:00 pm in the Band Room directly following the General Member meeting at 7:00 pm.

We urge everyone to attend as the trip will be discussed in detail.

The updated schedule will be:

Dec 26-Leave AVHS via bus, spend night at Embassy Suites Palm Dessert

Dec 27-Dec 31-Embassy Suites Tempe

    Dec 27-Fiesta Dinner

    Dec 28-Morning pool, rehearsals, dinner

Dec 29-Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship

    Dec 30-Fiesta Bowl Parade

Dec 31-Disneyland New Years Eve; spend night Crowne Plaza Resort

Jan 1-Visit Santa Monica & travel home

The good news is that the expense of the trip has been reduced because of this change. We have already received over $30,000 directed toward the trip, which is a great start. We need a continued financial commitment from a vast majority of the parents to make this trip possible. We are requesting a reduced donation of $890 from every family for each student.

For planning purposes, we have broken the donation request into two target dates:

June 15--$750

Aug 15--$140

You will receive a statement with this request that will show any funds received to date. If you have already donated more than the requested $890 the remainder can be directed towards the fall program donation request.

Also, if you are not able to participate because of previously arranged travel plans, or if have any questions please contact Mr. Grantham as soon as possible. Competing in a national level field show competition requires a high level of participation from the band and color guard. We look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting next Monday.

Fiesta Fun Here We Come. Questions or any ideas can be directed to Ellen Pensky or Brian Cavanaugh.

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Mom Over the Rainbow

...to everyone who helped make the 8th Annual Magic of Music a success.  We raised over $48,000 dollars, one of our best years yet!  The spirit of generosity was fully present as was the spirit of celebration and fun.  Attendees included our principal and his wife, Jim and Judy Hansen,  8th grade families who will join us this fall, and extended all the way to an alumni family who was the first to win the, now famous, Jon Grantham Midwestern Meatloaf Dinner.

It would be great if we, as a community, can thank the many businesses who made donations to our event.  One way to do this is to mention how grateful you are when you visit a participating business, and tell them you frequent their business because they support music in our schools.  Another way is to vote in the Pleasanton Weekly's "Reader's Choice"  ballot by May 20th.  Please take the time to look at the list of businesses who gave so generously to our program and thank them when the opportunity arrises.  Individual names on the business list are small business owners who made donations.

Again, thanks to all the volunteer students and adults, and thanks to all who attended.
