RA News

Thank you to our RAs who volunteered for our first full uniform football game.
AVHS Marching Band and Color Guard are fortunate to have a team of volunteers that can set up chairs, hand out gauntlets, snip glove finger tips, fix hair, shine shoes, stick in plumes and water a very BIG band like pros!

RAs signed up to help this coming Friday September 23rd for  band photos please report to the band room at 3:00pm.
Still want to volunteer as an RA? Go to amadormusic.org / ensembles / Marching Band and Color Guard / RA NEWS / choose a date / and contact Jody Harcourt.

Tuesday Snacks

The kids (and even a few adults) have been throughly enjoying the yummy treats that parents have been bringing in. Helping with this is just another way that the band families come together. Thank you again, and keep 'em coming! Just a reminder, no nuts. If you have any questions you can contact  Allison Cox.

Go Dons!
Photos Friday

Please check the music website for information on Friday's schedule for
band photos.

A look ahead...
Please note that there is a scheduled practice on Friday October 14 from
3:30-6:30.  This is in preparation for the next day's first band competition.

Is your child taking the SAT, PSAT or ACT this fall?
A pre-excuse form is not needed.  I will collect names prior to each test. Practice, if scheduled, will often start later to accomodate most of the testing window.  Students will not miss all of practice and in the case of a show day (10/22) will not miss the competition either.  Please email with any questions.

And a million thanks to Jereen Gilbert for organizing the BBQ and getting our future BBQ  coordinators up to speed.

HOTEL RAs FOR WBA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thank you to our 15 parents who volunteered to be Hotel RA's. We still need 10 Hotel RA's with PUSD fingerprinting clearance to be overnight chaperones. This level of clearance is only needed for those chaperones who will be supervising students in the hotel overnight, doing lights out and wake up visits to students' hotel rooms.

WHERE: Santa Barbara CA.
WHEN: November 18th - 21st 2011

Please contact me immediately if you are able to perform this important duty. You will need to pay for your own hotel and expenses. (Rooms are being held)

If you are not a PUSD employee, but wish to be a Hotel RA, then you will need to pay the cost of being fingerprinted with the District at a cost of $75.00. Once you receive this level of clearance you will never have to fill out a PUSD volunteer form again, good for many years to come!

Please contact Jody Harcourt to sign up to be a Hotel RA.

Volunteer with the Road Warriors!

road warriorsStill looking for an opportunity to support the band?  Consider joining the Road Warriors.  Our primary role is to move band equipment to and from competitions and help the Pit (or front ensemble) students move their equipment on and off the field at competitions and home football games.  No heavy lifting is required and scheduling is flexible.  If you aren't interested in helping at competitions we could still use your help with tasks such as maintaining or cleaning equipment.  Being a Road Warrior is fun!  Virtually all Road Warriors return multiple years but we do need to replace those whose students have graduated.  Please contact Rich McManus for more information.
