Registration Recognition
This year's Walk-In Band Registration ran smoothly in large part because of the efforts of nearly 30 volunteers. Much gratitude goes to Marilyn Palowitch and former band registrar Nalanda Bowman, who patiently showed me the registration "ropes." Jon Grantham and the board members whose cooperation was necessary in setting up the website, you have my appreciation. Thanks to the web site readers who helped fine-tune the site and the individuals who set up the tables and lights. Lastly, kudos to the parents who cheerfully worked the tables and made each session pass quickly and effortlessly. Cathy Needham, Registrar

SHOP & DROP! Another Way to Volunteer...
Are you looking for a way to help out the band? We often need items that can be picked up during your trip to the store. Here are some items we anticipate needing this season: Red Vines Licorice 3 or 4 lb. tub (a favorite treat for after football games), Dixie Cups (Costco size package, bigger then bathroom size but smaller then coffee size), Ice (necessary for cooling water bottles for thirsty band and color guard members), Aquanet (yes hair spray to keep all that hair up in those shakos).
If you would like to volunteer for an easy one-time task please contact Jody Harcourt & drop the items in Mr. Grantham's office. For a weekly list of needed items check out the RA News page on the amadormusic.org website. Oh, you didn't know that there is a special RA page? To get there go to www.amadormusic.org click on Ensembles / Marching Band and Colorguard / RA News. Questions should be directed to Jody. |

Band-Aid
Band-Aid is a philanthropic project organized by the Band Council, dedicated to extending support from Amador's band to another in need. Our first year, we donated musical supplies to Moos Elementary in Chicago, doubling the number of music students who were previously excluded from their program due to a lack of resources. This year, the Band Council wants to help Joplin High School in Missouri recover from a catastrophic tornado that hit this past May, devastating their resources and displacing over 62% of their student body.
Joplin needs your help! The Band Council is going to hold a single day march-a-thon fundraising event for parents, friends, and community members to come to a Saturday practice on October 1st and sponsor or pledge a marching Don! With each donation you will receive a "We March for Joplin" merchandise item. All proceeds go towards helping Joplin pay for new uniforms and instrument rental fees. All donations are tax deductible and any amount will be hugely appreciated! We encourage the entire community to come watch the band end the event with a run through of this season's show, dedicated to all of our wonderful supporters and our friends at Joplin.
Thanks so much and we hope to see you there!
