All Members Meeting

May 12, 7:00 PM, Choir Room

Fellow AFM Members, May 12, is the final All-Members Meeting for the year.  This is an important meeting for members, as two important votes occur at this meeting: Budget 2011-2012 and the Election of the 2011-2012 Executive Board.   All members - parents of choir, orchestra, bands, percussion and guard - are encouraged to attend this meeting.  Refreshments will be served.  And there will be LIVE MUSIC - generously presented by some of our students.  Please mark your calendars now.

 Unanimously Superior!

Amador concert bands shine at CMEA festival!    Congratulations to the
Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble II and Wind Ensemble I on
earning the highest ratings possible at festival this past weekend.  Each group walked away with a Unanimous Superior rating, which means 3 concert judges and 1 sight-reading judge assessed their performances as top rated. It is difficult to earn this rating at festival and even more incredible that all 4 Amador groups achieved this.  Congratulations to the kids on all of their hard work to make this possible.

PUSD District Band Festival- on April 28, Wind Ensemble I will be
participating in the PUSD District Band Festival, entitled "Celebrate!"  This is serving as a fundraiser to help ensure the 5th grade band/strings programs continue.  All band parents are encouraged to attend.  Tickets are 10.00 for adults and 5.00 for students/seniors.  The concert is being held at Harvest Park Middle School at 7:00 pm.

Thanks to Emily Yim, Mary Ferwerda, and Jim Young for stepping forward to volunteer on behalf of AVHS at this district event.

Thanks!
Jon Grantham
Director of Bands

Parent Lead Roles 2011-2012

The AFM Board is happy to announce that most of the Parent Leadership positions for the 2011-2012 fiscal year have been filled.  AFM will enjoy the return of many members in repeat roles, as well as new leaders who are stepping up to assume the stewardship of the music program from "retiring" members.  There are still a few lead roles to be filled, and new roles are always evolving.  Stay informed through the newsletter and the website for your opportunities to help!

Thank you to everyone who explored interest in the board and other AFM leadership activities. You have inspired us all with the knowledge that the future of AFM is in good hands!
