Job of the Week

New Uniform

Uniform Coordinator for Fall 2011.  Enjoy working with teenagers?  Love details?  AFM is in need of a Marching Band Uniform Coordinator for Fall 2011.  Work closely with Mr. Grantham and a TEAM of volunteers to guide students through fittings, contracts, and the care and handling of uniforms; assist throughout the season with parts distribution at events; and follow-through with end-of-season collection.  Get a head start now by helping to close-out the storage for uniforms before summer.  Are you thinking "I could do this!"  Learn more by contacting Marilyn Palowitch or Mr. Grantham.  Thank you!

All Members Meeting

May 12, 7:00 PM, Choir Room

Fellow AFM Members, May 12, is the final All-Members Meeting for the year.  This is an important meeting for members, as two important votes occur at this meeting: Budget 2011-2012 and the Election of the 2011-2012 Executive Board.   All members - parents of choir, orchestra, bands, percussion and guard - are encouraged to attend this meeting.  Refreshments will be served.  And there will be LIVE MUSIC - generously presented by some of our students.  Please mark your calendars now.

CMEA Band Festival is April 15/16

Please check the music website for schedule information.  A reminder that all students are responsible for finding their own ride to festival, but that students are not allowed to drive themselves or other students as this is a school function.  Parents are invited and encouraged to attend and support this important performance.  There is no cost.

Are you technically minded?  Like to build things? The marching band will be using props for next fall's field show and I need some help in realizing and constructing the props.  If you are interested in helping, please contact me to schedule a meeting.  I'd like work to begin on these this spring/summer so they are ready for band camp in August.

A look ahead!  Please check the music website for spring concert
information.  In addition, on April 28, Wind Ensemble I will be
participating in the PUSD District Band Festival, entitled "Celebrate!"  This is serving as a fundraiser to help ensure the 5th grade band/strings programs continue.  All band parents are encouraged to attend.  Tickets are 10.00 for adults and 5.00 for students/seniors.  The concert is being held at Harvest Park Middle School at 7:00 pm.

Additionally, if you are attending, please email me if you can help with ticket sales on the night of the concert (you will be able to see your child perform.)  We are responsible for providing 4 volunteers to help.

Thanks!
Jon Grantham
Director of Bands
