Tickets now on sale for Magic of Music!!!

The Magic of Music, our one major fund raiser of the year, is just around the corner on April 30th at the Sunol Valley Golf Club. Our theme this year is American Bandstand, American Voices of the 50's, 60's and 70's.

It's not too late to make a donation for our auctions and wine pull.  Contact Brian Cavanaugh or Sally Baker to find out what we need and how to donate.  To donate wine, contact Sher Butler.

Now's the time to buy your tickets.  Find the link on the AFM web site and buy individual tickets or a whole table of ten.  It's going to be a fun filled evening, starting with vintage cars in the parking lot to greet you and memories of the 50's, 60's and 70's throughout.  After check in you'll be offered a glass of complimentary champagne and head in to the Wine Pull.  Select a bottle (or six!) of wine and be surprised by what you get and maybe win a prize too!  Keep going to the silent auction room to find appetizers, browse, bid and enjoy wine tasting with Morse/Il Gioillo wines.  Morse wines has donated our table wine and will donate 40% of wine tasting and bottle sales to AFM.  Both Amador Jazz bands will play throughout the evening and we may even have a special appearance of the Amador mixed vocal ensemble.

It's not to be missed, see you there!

Training will be provided until you are completely comfortable with the process.  Please contact Anne Gove at for additional details.

Thanks much,

CMEA Band Festival @ California High School:

CMEA band festival is the significant assessment of each of the four

concert bands from a panel of judges.  Students perform 3 prepared concert selections and then sight-read to test for music literacy skills.  This festival is the highlight of the 2nd semester thus far and showcases weeks of hard work to ready the ensembles for the festival.  Attendance is mandatory and parents are welcome to attend (and are responsible for transporting their child to/from the event.)

Do you have a child in 2nd period Wind Symphony?
If so, keep reading!  On Thursday March 31, all Wind Symphony members will be performing in a shared concert with musicians from Saratoga High School in the beautiful McAfee Theater on Saratoga's campus.  We have planned a pre-concert rehearsal and dinner for the musicians from both schools.  Students will need to arrive at Saratoga High School at 4:30 pm.  We are using carpools to get the kids to and from Saratoga for the performance. The planning for that needs to begin now so all 65 students have rides
arranged. Any parents who drive will have dinner provided for them by the Saratoga Music Boosters and of course all parents are invited to attend the concert at 7:30 pm

Thanks to the following for volunteering to drive to Saratoga!  We've got a 1/3 of the band covered already! Mark Garrett, Annette Buck, Nalanda Bowman, Justin Briggs, Meri McCoy-Thompson, Jody Harcourt, Debbie McManus and Marcia Ikeda.

Please e-mail me if you can drive students and let me know how many. Thanks for your help with getting this done early!

Also, you may read local press coverage at these 3 outlets.  Responding to these stories, by way of Letters to the Editor or online comment, is also a helpful way of keeping the dialogue moving forward!
