Thank you to an AFM Sponsor

Jim Pease, an Amador Valley graduate and current parent, is a Pleasanton based CPA. Jim donated his time to AFM this year to assist in the preparation and filing of our tax return. This saved AFM a significant
amount of money versus prior years.  Jim provides individual, trust/estate
and business tax and accounting services. He can be reached at 925.230.9380

Do you Shop at Gene's?
Earn $$ for AFM

Gene's Fine Foods is running a contest starting Dec 1, 2010 and running through May 15, 2011. The school organization that spends the most money at Gene's during this time wins $1000 (with $500 for 2nd and $250 for 3rd). When you shop there, just tell the cashier that you're with AFM and they will keep track for us. They'll even post the running totals on their window. You can get your friends and family to help too. Just have them mention AFM at check-out and we'll get credit for it. Not only that, but you can "double-dip". If you buy Gene's scrip, you'll get the customary credit directly in your student account plus the amount you spend counts toward the contest. Finally, they're increasing the amount of scrip rebate in Jan and Feb to 8%. Such a deal!

A message from the President...

AFM Message from the PresidentHappy New Year!  Each new year, AFM gets off to a very fast start. Students and teachers return to the final weeks of the first semester, and the AFM parents are busy getting ready for fun-filled February festivals!  (How's that for alliteration?)  February 5th is the Winterguard and Winter Percussion Show, and February 12 is the Campana Jazz Festival.

If you are a Winterguard or Winter Percussion parent, please be sure to assist the February 5th festival.  And if you are a Jazz parent, please set aside February 12.  No need to limit this to just one parent per household! There's something to do for everyone! And in case you are not available on the day of the festival, there's always something you can do in advance.

Ready to help?  For the Winter Show, contact Beth Foort.  For Campana, contact Marilyn Palowitch.

More glad tidings!  Congratulations to the AVHS students who have been selected for regional, state and national honor bands!  Our Directors will have the honor of naming names, but I am thrilled to see so many students recognized.  These students will represent Amador, their music teachers, Pleasanton, and themselves in ensembles from Stockton, CA to Indianapolis, IN. AFM appreciates and is proud of all the students who auditioned for these groups.

Thank you!

Winter Perc. picThe 2011 Winter Percussion and Winter Guard Show is just a few weeks away!

While participation by the Winter Percussion and Winterguard families is
required, all members of the AFM Community are encouraged to participate and attend, to ensure that this event continues the tradition of a high standard.

In particular we need help in the following areas:

           Publicity and Ticket Sales
           Campus Supervision
           Set Up and Clean Up
           Hospitality Room
           Parking Lot Supervision

A friendly reminder to Winter Percussion and Winterguard families:
Please sign-up to help with shows.

Please click on this link, and sign up for the job of your choice. In the next week, I will be contacting all of the volunteers to provide specific job information. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you for your help,

MOM Decorations Meeting January 11th

WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR MAGIC OF MUSIC DECORATIONS

You probably have heard that this year's theme for Magic of Music fundraiser is American Bandstand.  Committees are in full gear soliciting donations. We need your help to start working on the decorations. Share your talents and ideas.   A core group has some initial  ideas to turn the Sunol Country Club into the American Bandstand Amador Style.

We need your help to:

-- continue the planning with your ideas and thoughts

--volunteer to turn those ideas into decorations

--work on site  few days prior to the event

--work onsite the day of the event

--suggest other things we haven't thought of

--all of the above

If you are interested, please join us at the first decorations committee meeting on TUESDAY JANUARY 11,7-8:30PM AT ELLEN MCGRAW'S HOME, 5406 HOPKINS COURT.

Everyone is invited to join in on the fun.  We need all types of talent and skills. If you are interested in helping, but can't attend the January 11 meeting, please reply back to let us know.

Hope to see you there.
