Band Aid is a Huge Success!!

Thank you to Emily Truax and the entire band
council and all student volunteers for organizing a successful event on Sunday.  Despite the rain, over 2 dozen band instruments were collected in addition to a bin full of music and boxes of percussion equipment and recorders.  Our sister band at Moos Elementary in Chicago will now have an
instrument inventory more than double what it currently is.  Thank you to everyone for making this a reality.

Logan information on-line. The Logan itinerary is posted on the web page. Please note that our performance time has been moved ahead to 8:58 pm.  Hope to see our biggest Sea of Purple yet!

Friends and Family Community Performance Wednesday! The marching bands from Amador and Foothill will be performing for one another and you on Wednesday November 17 at 7pm in Foothill's stadium.  Students are asked to report in uniform to Foothill at 6:00 pm for warm-up.  The event will be over by 8pm and is free to all who attend.  This is a performance not to be missed!

Jon Grantham
Director of Bands
WBA and Senior Banquet

The pressure is on.  WBA and Senior Banquet is fast approaching.  My gratitude to the families who have signed up to help, thank you.  However, I still need a lot of help.  This can't be accomplished without volunteers.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Shifts still open between set up, serving and clean up.   New to band and want to experience WBA first hand?  Contact me, it's a load of fun!

We have enough coolers but I would like to have 3 more canopies to borrow.

Easy job, ice runner.  Would like a couple people on this task.  Need to keep food and drinks cool during the weekend.

Not going to WBA but still want to help?  Would glady take donations of dinner plates, small/cake plates, napkins,  or forks.  Let me know what you can donate.  You can bring to the last band practice, have your student drop with Mr. Grantham or I can pick items up at your house!  Can't get easier : )

Our kids have worked very hard this season.  Our seniors will remember this weekend forever.  Please let me know how you would like to  help. Please contact Leanna Olberg to help with ANY of the above.

 Medical Forms Reminder

medsParents, please remember that we need to have the following forms in our medical binder prior to any of our competitions should your student need to take any medication (including over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen or Pepto-bismol) OR  if your student carries any life sustaining medications.  Please go to the Amador Music web page and click on PUSDMedication Consent Form  (required for a student to carry medications of any kind while on a trip) OR Contract to Carry Life Sustaining Medications (for students who carry an inhaler, EpiPen, Insulin or Glucagon).  Please give these forms directly to Mr. Grantham.

Any questions? contact Jody Harcourt

 Band Aid!!

The Band Council would like to thank AFM Families and the Pleasanton Community for making Band Aid such a great success.

Even in the rain, we collected over 2 dozen instruments, along with cases, music and other supplies.

If you still have items to donate, please contact Mr. Grantham before the Thanksgiving break.

Thank you!
Emily Truax
Magic of Music News!

The next Magic of Music Meeting will be Monday, November 15th at 7:30 in the music building. We will have special guest, Frank Jakubka, our auctioneer for the Magic of Music.  Frank will give us feedback on how we're doing so far and how we can maximize our efforts.  I will provide an update on donations.  Please bring any donations you've collected.  The marching band has rehearsal on this evening and we'll be done in time to admire the final run through.

Our theme is American Bandstand, thanks to Ellen McGraw.  Ellen has created a great logo for this year's event. Hope to see you on the 15th.

Sally Baker
  Uniform info

Bib pant hems.  If there is a crease in the pant leg... it is too long. Please refer the AFM site for proper hemming length. Even though there are 2 shows left, it is important to the uniformity of the band as a whole and to the integrity of the bib pants to last many more years.

Laundering... Bib pants, if you have not done so yet, they are probably due for a wash. Jackets... DO NOT launder... those will be returned at the end of the season unwashed.  Due to "special" first wash instructions it is important it is not laundered at home.

Looking ahead to Snacks for WBA 11/20-21

Each band member of the following sections is responsible for bringing bottled water or energy/breakfast-type bars:

Color Guard & Clarinets:
water

24 bottles (case) of water

Trumpets & Baritones:
Cereal fruit bars

12ENERGY or Breakfast Bars
PLEASE NOTE* No Nuts or Peanut Butter.
We need to avoid granola-type bars as most of these bars contain nuts.  The breakfast bars have more nut-free options

Please bring your water or energy bars to the band room during the week of November 16th. Mr. Grantham will let you know where they will be stored.

Questions should be directed to Jody Harcourt.

Wine Pull News

We've collected yet more wine this past week from our AFM families.  Thank you very much for making arrangements to drop off wine at the Butler's & Bake's homes as your schedules permit.   Please check in with us first to see when the timing is right by e-mailing Sharon Butler
or Sally Baker .  We'll work out a pickup/ dropoff schedule.  Click onto the AFM website to get a copy of the donation form, and fill it out.  Each family will be recognized for their contribution.  Your help with the success of  Magic of Music 2011 is greatly appreciated! Wondering where you can pick up a bottle of wine to donate?  Our local BevMo offers great prices, so check them out.
