MERCED INFORMATION
Plenty of information is available on the website for Saturday's competition at Merced College. Please check there for the itinerary and updates on construction and travel considerations in Merced which may lengthen your trip to see the show. Students are asked to plan on staying at school for the short 45 minute break between practice and loading the buses. The locker rooms will be open for use. The short time is because Amador plays host to the SAT on Saturday morning and as a result the band is not allowed to play until after 1pm. Had practice been earlier (allowing for a longer break) the band would not have played a single note prior to the show! Thanks for your understanding with the schedule. FRIDAY'S GAME! Section leaders are asked to report at 5:15. Full band report time is 6pm. Students will be dismissed after half-time. The band is welcoming the 8th graders from HPMS and PMS this Friday! A LOOK AHEAD Performance time for the James Logan competition is 9:11pm. The itinerary will be available early next week.

Moos Elementary Band-Aid
On Sunday, November 7th, from 1-4 pm in the front Amador Valley parking lot,AVHS Band is hosting an instrument/musical necessities drive called "Band Aid". These instruments and music accessories will be donated to Amador's sister band, Moos Elementary band, in Chicago. Moos Elementary has very few instruments, excluding many kids from joining band. Parents are not able to rent instruments for their children, like we do here in Pleasanton. We will be accepting working instruments of all types, ranging from African drums to violins. They also need sheet music, cases and stands. Contributions are tax deductible.

WBA and Senior Banquet
As you folks know, our overnight trip, WBA November 20th - 21st, we are providing meals for the students and staff. I am still looking for a few families who can help in transporting cases of water and snacks to the events. I am especially in need of volunteers to help set up tables, canopies (as well as donate them for the weekend), to help serve and clean up. It is pretty easy to do. As of today, I only have 1 server. So please contact me as soon as possible to let me know if you can help. No senior parents please for serving, you will be busy enjoying the festivities. You can also come see me at the snack table on Tuesdays. I greatly appreciate it!
I am also in search of 7 more coolers to borrow to keep our water bottles and other beverages cold for meal time. I will also need help transporting these items.
I also still need a cake runner. OR Does anyone have family in Fresno who can deliver the cakes? Cakes to be ordered from local Costco. Reimbursed by AFM.
Ice Runner; possible few trips to local grocery store to pick up ice. Reimbursed by AFM.
I am looking for a parent who is driving to WBA and staying late Sunday or until Monday. If that is you, I am in need of someone to return the chafing dishes and utensils we are borrowing for the WBA/Senior dinner to the local caterer in that area.
Lastly, interested in becoming a grub master? Curious? We are looking for someone who wants to shadow myself and Allison to learn the ropes.
Thank you Bjork, Marjanovic and Klein Families for already signing up to help. Deeply appreciated.
This can't be done without the amazing parent volunteers of the Amador Marching Band! Please contact Leanna Olberg to help with ANY of the above.
Thank you! Leanna |
Medical Forms Reminder
Parents, please remember that we need to have the following forms in our medical binder prior to any of our competitions should your student need to take any medication (including over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen or Pepto-bismol) OR if your student carries any life sustaining medications. Please go to the Amador Music web page and click on PUSDMedication Consent Form (required for a student to carry medications of any kind while on a trip) OR Contract to Carry Life Sustaining Medications (for students who carry an inhaler, EpiPen, Insulin or Glucagon). Please give these forms directly to Mr. Grantham.

Show your Amador Pride!

It's a big month for the Marching Dons! Don't let it pass without showing your Amador Pride with a wonderful, all-weather and very durable yard - and FAN - sign! These signs have been seen in stands at Competitions, and they really do stand out. Write a message to your favorite Don on the flip side and you have your own shout-out for the upcoming 3 weekends of competition! So get one now, while you still can. Display it with pride on competition and football performance days - but don't forget to take it along when you leave for the competitions! Signs are $8 and can be purchased on Tuesday, November 9 at rehearsal, or anytime by contacting Ellen McGraw.
