Job of the Week
"How Can I Help?"

Parent Donation Coordinator for Magic of Music

"Where can I donate a parent?"  No, not that kind of Parent Donation!  But we really do need someone to coordinate donations FROM AFM Parents for the Magic of Music: handle questions, provide encouragement and receive donations. Work from home, and nearly all of the work is after the holidays.  Additional volunteers will help organize and deliver the packages to the event.

Contact Sally Baker with questions or to say YES!

Getting involved with AFM is one of the most rewarding volunteer gigs in town.  "How can you help?" Take a look at How Can I Help? on our website.

Busy Weekend Ahead l!!

Please visit the website for itinerary information as there have been some changes.  Amador will perform at Gilroy HS @ 8:47, not 9:00 as originally scheduled.  This will impact the schedule for the day minimally, but please do check so you don't miss the band perform.  Tickets for Gilroy are $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for seniors and students.

In the morning, drop-off, pick-up and student parking for the Foothill Band Review should all happen in the Del Valle lot behind the school.  Please park in the upper deck of the parking garage.  Main Street and the Santa Rita parking lot will be closed.  The parade is free of charge if you'd like to see the band march down Main Street.

Students have a 90 minute break after the parade and a 2 hour break after rehearsal.  Encourage your child to nap and eat as time allows during the breaks so they have optimal energy for the Gilroy performance.

Thanks in advance for all of your support on this busy day!
Go Dons!!

 Are you getting SCRIP emails?

Recently, we've discovered a significant number of AFM members are not getting the bi-monthly SCRIP email reminders.  We have begun to correct this error, and many of you will begin to get these emails for the first time in the next two weeks.

Purchasing Scrip is one of the easiest ways to raise money for your student's AFM account.  Through this program, you purchase gift cards or certificates to your favorite stores and restaurants, at face value.  Each business returns a rebate (from 2% to 15% and sometimes even more). 75% of your rebate is credited to your student's account, and 25% goes to the AFM General Account.  For Scrip orders placed in November and December - you receive 100% of your rebate! So - if you haven't already, this is a great time to get started!  Ready?  Go to the Scrip page on the website for details.

 Wine Drive October 30th!

We are introducing a "wine pull" at our upcoming MoM fund raiser on April 30, 2011, so we're collecting wine donations from our AFM families and local wineries in order to achieve our goal for this event.

In an effort to make it as easy as possible for everyone to contribute, we will be hosting a wine drive on Saturday, October 30.

After you drop your student off for band practice in the AM, please come by The Butler's house at 1420 Parkview Ct. (2 blocks from the school, on the corner of Harvest Rd. , across from the park). You can drop off your donation & enjoy a cup of coffee.  Please Do NOT bring wine to school.

Donation forms are available for you to fill out on the website, and we'll have them on hand at the wine drive.  Each family will be recognized for their contributions.

Contact Sher Butler or Sally Baker for more information.  They will be happy to arrange for pickups of your donations anytime throughout the year.

Your donation to the success of  Magic of Music 2011 is greatly appreciated!
Magic of Music can use your help!

If you know of a business that is a good candidate to make a donation, we would love your help.  Think of a business that you frequent.  Check the list of who is already being solicited (Note you must login to the AFM site to access this page)  If they're not on our list, feel free to download a donation form and request letter and ask away!  We're not picky, we'll take what ever someone is willing to give, but would especially like gift certificates to restaurants, entertainment and recreation  venues and retail stores.  Feel free to contact Sally Baker with your questions.

Lost and Found

There are left over bowls and serving spoons from the BBQ. Please pick them up from the Band Room.

Treats for Tuesday Nights!

cookies6 Again, we want to thank everyone for coming up with yummy treats for the kids after they have been working so hard! We would sincerely appreciate it if we could also get some parents to donate a few table cloths and hand sanitizer for the tables. We are trying to keep the them in great condition so they will last for years to come. Go Dons!

Any questions, feel free to email Allison Cox .
