Job of the Week
"How Can I Help?"
Parent Donation Coordinator for Magic of Music
Do you enjoy meeting other AFM parents? This job is for you! You will be the point of contact for parents (not students, not businesses, just parents) who are making donations for the silent and live auctions. The MOM committee will ask for parent donations from January through March. You will handle questions, provide encouragement and receive donations. Additional volunteers will help organize and deliver the packages to the event. Is this job for you? Contact Sally Baker with questions or to say YES!
Getting involved with AFM is one of the most rewarding volunteer gigs in town. "How can you help?" Take a look at How Can I Help? on our website.

The kids (and even a few adults) have been loving the yummy treats on Tuesday nights! Helping with this is just another way that our band family comes together! Keep them comin. Parents can just come and drop the snacks off on Tuesday night in Mr. Grantham's office before 8:00 or come out to the field where the table will be. Please no nuts though. Amador shines at Modesto Invitational!!
As you are probably aware the Marching Dons got off to a great start at Saturday's marching band competition in Modesto. Congratulations to the band members on bringing home Class 4A/5A Sweepstakes. The band turned in a fine performance. Many thanks to those of you in the "Sea of Purple" for making the trip and being the loudest and proudest parent group in the stands! Additional thanks go out to the amazing RA's and RW's who helped make the whole day run so smoothly. And didn't the new uniforms look wonderful? Details for Friday's game: Report time is 6:00pm in full uniform (marching shoes, black socks, bib pants, band t-shirt, jacket). The band will be dismissed after half-time (approximately 9:00pm). There is NO practice on Saturday 10/16. Enjoy the day off! A look ahead: Next Saturday (10/23) is a busy day for the band. We will be participating in the Foothill Band Review in the early morning, having a rehearsal in preparation for our competition later that evening and of course traveling to Gilroy for the WBA competition. Our performance time for the Foothill parade is not known at this time, but we are supposed to go in the early morning. We are scheduled to compete at 9:00pm at Gilroy High School. Every effort will be made to maximize time off for the students and to minimize driving for parents, too! Please look for a schedule by the end of this week on the music website.

(2 blocks from the school, on the corner of Harvest Rd. , across from the park). You can drop off your donation & enjoy a cup of coffee. Please Do NOT bring wine to school.Donation forms are available for you to fill out on the website, and we'll have them on hand at the wine drive. Each family will be recognized for their contributions.Contact Sher Butler or Sally Baker for more information. RA News
A HUGE THANK YOU to our RAs who worked at the Friday night football game, where we wore the new full uniforms for the first time and the Modesto competition on Saturday. We are lucky to have so many volunteers who are not only generous with their time but ready to step in to do any job thrown their way, and in the dark no less! Our freshman parents looked like seasoned pros! This Friday is our homecoming football game against Granada High School. Reporting time for parents volunteering at this game is 5:30 p.m. outside of the choir room. The students will be reporting directly to Shako/Birdie stations immediately following attendance block at 6 pm so please be on time. All those who volunteered to work at this game can now find RA duties at the Amador Music Website on the RA page. Oh, you didn't know there was your very own special RA page? Check it out here. If you ever want to get to this page and don't have the link, go to www.amadormusic.org click on Ensembles / Marching Band and Colorguard / RA News.

Magic of Music Student Donations!
Linda Truax is the coordinator for Magic of Music student donations. She briefed all band students last week on our expectations. We're asking for donations during the marching band season while the band is living and breathing all that great section unity. Students are encouraged to create no cost donations to be auctioned off at the event, like tutoring, music lessons or a jazz combo for your party. They can also create packages with cost, like sleepover in a basket, but they're not required to spend money. Student may donate individually or in a group. Each section's goal is to make at least the same number of donations as they have section leaders. For instance, flute section will try to come up with at least 4 donations, color guard with at least 2 and pit with at least 1. Ask your student what his or her section is working on! Student donations are due November 13, 2010.
