Here at WIP, we are getting ready for a mini WIPJam on August 24 with Interactive Scotland at the Turing Festival in Edinburgh.  Mobile Moves Michigan Conference and WIPJam July 30 & 31, 2012, Detroit, MI

This two day mobile conference was the first of its kind in Michigan hosted by the Mobile Technology Association of Michigan (MTAM). The first day featured a WIPJam and the second was geared towards building a mobile strategy for Michigan. About 130 developers and mobile-industry members attended WIPJam featuring a wide spectrum of participants. A number of advanced, high-level developer and experienced companies were represented as were people very new to the mobile space. The strategy day was attended by approximate 60 people and featured a showcase of 11 mobile companies seeking partners, developers, and customers. The showcase was free and attracted over 100 people outside the conference. WIPJam featured talks from people outside Michigan and also had knowledge-sharing from more experienced local participants. The audience was engaged and eager to learn, participate and network. Presentations on a number of new platforms, such as Windows 8, BlackBerry 10 and NOOK were well attended and met with a lot of interest. Android and iOS presentations were also well attended. The auto industry is attracting a lot of attention as it looks to developers to provide in-car apps and other content. Automakers are large companies with some big and unique demands for mobile services. The mobile strategy session was geared towards mobile companies, government and associations to get on board and help position Michigan as a mobile hub. The mobile industry already has a significant economic impact on the state. Michigan was the place that made the world mobile almost a century ago,,, and is looking to continue the trend with strong contributions to the very different mobile industry of the 21st century.
