Dear ! Who says there is nothing going on during June, July, August? Okay, there is bit of a slow down but there are still mobile events taking place along with a few app challenges. WIP is hosting a webinar, Drive App Quality Across the Ecosystem, with the Verizon Developer Community on June 21st. We are the North American partner for the ESNC North America App Challenge. There are great prizes to be won and idea submissions using satellite navigation are FREE! On July 30/31st, we will be in Michigan for WIPJam/Muther! of all Hackathons.  AnDevCon III May 14 - 17, 2012, San Francisco, CA
WIP's own San Chan attended AnDevCon III last month.
AnDevCon is always known as the go-to technical event for Android Developers and AnDevCon III definitely lived up to its reputation. With one day of workshops and three days of action packed sessions, there was something for everybody, from beginners to experienced Android pros. Among the many topics discussed were backwards compatibility and usability. Everybody I talked to told me they had learned something through each of the technical sessions and also felt reassured that experts were coding the same way as them.
There was a large Google presence at the event with and it was evident there was a big emphasis on Google TV, with 2 separate sessions regarding the development of the TV OS, and also a four hour workshop. Developers who stayed for the full workshop were given a Logitech Revue equipped with the latest Honeycomb OS for development use. It is clear that Google wants to push the boundaries of applications on the tv set, and developers semed keen to start testing the water with lightweight games and tinkering with 2nd screen experiences using Android devices alongside the Google TV.
Overall, it remains one of the best nuts and bolts conferences for android developers who want to not only learn, but also tinker hands on with sample code and share tips and tricks with like-minded developers.

Accommodations while traveling!
Are you tired of paying high dollars for conference/event accommodations? Try booking your rooms using one of the hotel discount websites such as hotel.com. Another great option, if there is a group of you, is to rent a house via VRBO.com or a similar site. You can often bring the cost per person down to just $30 - $40 per night and enjoy a beautiful house with a pool, laundry facilities and a gourmet kitchen. That kitchen can save you big bucks on eating out.
