Dear !
Welcome to our first newsletter devoted to Mobile Industry Events. Over the past two years, we have all noticed an ever increasing number of developer and mobile events being offered. Until 18 months ago, there were very few events focused on developers which is what prompted WIP to start our very popular WIPJams in February of 2008. Now there are literally dozens of events every single month. How do you choose where to spend your time, energy and MONEY?
In early, 2010, we implemented our Mobile Community Calendar to help you locate and get information on these events. We strive to make it THE source of mobile events on the web. It is a wiki so please help us by entering your and other events that are missing. Our focus is on developer events that help developers connect to information, resources and people. You can search for events by type, date and location. Check it out! There are also calendar and map functions to make it super easy.
Each month, we will provide a listing of upcoming events, reviews of a past event, recommendation for "must" attend events and suggestions for making the most of every event that you attend. We might throw in a polling question or two to get your feedback and monitor the pulse of the developer community. So, please read on and let us know what you think! As always, we want to hear from you... what you like, what you don't like, what you want to see in our next event newsletter. Tell us about events you attended and we are also looking for event reviews for future issues. All the best,
Teresa Teresa Ostman, VP Marketing & Partnerships Wireless Industry Partnership (WIP) The 'Connector' for the mobile and wireless industry Twitter: @CarolineWIP #wipjam @TeresaWIP @ThibautR @Caaarlo Join our group on Facebook and Linkedin. Welcome to readers of our new events newsletter - nice to meet you at conferences or at our WIPJam sessions. The Event newsletter is sent out once/month; Our News newsletter is also sent out once/month. In addition, you will receive the occasional eblast about our own events. We pledge not to spam and inundate you with emails. However, if you aren't interested in receiving our information, please use the opt out link below - no hard feelings! You can choose to opt out of the Event Newsletter, News Newsletter or both.

AT&T Hackathon - April 16, Seattle, WA
On April 16, AT&T hosted the first in a series of Hackathons for developers. The Mobile App Hackathon was a great event for mobile developers to come together, network, learn about new technologies and build mobile apps.
Hackathons are becoming the "it" of developer events, along with other grassroots events. The event attracted over 150 attendees and of that 90 or so hacked for six hours, producing a dozen apps. The event was a great opportunity for those new to mobile development to learn about various developer environments and to meet other like minded folks.
The apps produced in the six hour period were quite innovative. The biggest surprised was the number of developers who were developing their first mobile app!
The next AT&T Hackathon is set to take place June 4, the day after Uplinq in San Diego. More information on the WIP Mobile Community Calendar.

Always have Business Cards with You!
Always carry business cards with you and bring enough cards to every event you attend! Many conferences and exhibitors use scanners to collect your information so you don't think you need business cards. You still do because many of your connections will be made with other event attendees. Connections are also made at evening receptions and activities where there are no scanners in sight!
