THE CONNECTOR
News from WIP
July 2010
Hi  !

Someone told me I was too verbose on the last newsletter, so thought I would be more succinct this time (with the sounds of bike bells in my head!)

The WIP blog is really active now. Check out these links for more in-depth coverage on:

In other WIP activities:

  • We finally launched the WIP Marketplace, to better help us answer your daily questions and emails we receive, check it out below.  Beta Testers Needed!

  • 79 appstores in our App store wiki, check out the July App Store report below.

NOW OPEN  - Call for Speakers and Sponsors at our upcoming WIPJams:

  • CTIA, San Francisco, October 5

  • Open Software in Mobile (OSiM), London, October 20

  • Mobile Asia Congress, App Planet, Hong Kong, November 18

  • Mobile World Congress, App Planet, Barcelona, February 17, 2011

Mostly we are sitting tight this summer to concentrate on new programs, website updates and client work and getting much deserved suntans!  But you can find us:

  • July 12-13 - Carlo is speaking at the Mobile Beat Conference and attending the Getty Awards Cermony and Dinner

  • July 12 - Thibaut is speaking at the Mobile Monday in Munich

  • July 21-23 - the whole team is in Salt Lake City for some meetings.  Any mobile developers there??  Let's get together - we'd love to meet you.

OK - so that was pretty succinct.  Lots going on as we grow to keep up with the mobile developer community.  Enjoy the summer - we plan too.

Best, Caroline

NEW   WIP Marketplace (Beta)

Check Out Our New Marketplace!

For quite some time, we've planned to launch a Marketplace on the WIP site as a way for us to support the daily requests we receive for people seeking a new hire, to fill a project, Offering a place to stay at an event, or advertise an opportunity to our community. Now, we have something for you!

You can check out our new Marketplace at http://www.wipconnector.com/marketplace. You'll have to be a registered user of the WIP site to be able to respond, but otherwise it's free. If you have an ad you'd like to post to the site, you can email our Community Manager, Carlo Longino to get into our private beta while we test things out. If you're interested, email him at carlo at wipconnector dot com.

Latest App Store Wiki Report - 79 and Counting
July App Store Report for download

The WIP APP STORE WIKI now counts 79
app stores and continues to grow!

36 stores launched in the first half of 2010; that's compared to 24 in the second half of 2009, and just 8 in the first half of that year. Will the number of launches continue on the same path? It seems unlikely, but a number of opportunities remain for app store providers who want to focus on a particular vertical market or type of application.

Find out more by downloading the WIP July App Store Report to see all the latest additions and their features.
