Hi !
WIP
turned 4 years old last month! Thanks so
much to all of you who continue to read our monthly newsletter, as well as participate
and partner with us on various activities to support our dynamic mobile
developer ecosystem !
We
are getting more active with our blog - so check it out for the updates, discussion notes and photos from our latest activities at CTIA and the IPTV forum.

Did you hear about our
Paper
Airplane contest!!

The WIP team signing off from another successful Jam: Thibaut, Caroline, Teresa and Carlo.
As
we continue to support the voice of mobile developers around the world and in
keeping with the Year of the Mobile Developer - we wanted to ensure that
developers had input into the new Wholesale Application
Community (WAC), the consortium of 24 operators aiming to support a simplified
route to market for app developers.
Eight
(8) priorities were identified by members of the mobile developer community at
the WIPJam session held at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas on March 22, 2010.
We
compiled the priorities into an Open Letter to WAC. The letter is not meant to be all inclusive -
for instance as many developers have already pointed out, fragmentation didn't
come up at the WIPJam session, but is still very important (the big elephant in the room that we don't see any more...). The letter is also intended to be a starting
point for an open dialogue between WAC and developers. WIP will continue to add to and refine the
list and get it in front of the WAC members.
YOUR ACTION: Add your name to the list to
show your support and include your comments on what is important to YOU! And help
spread the word so WAC can hear what is important from the cross section of
developers around the world! This will be a first time where mobile developer ralley their voice - make yours count!
Best,
Caroline

WIPJAM @ CTIA - Keeping the Discussions Going
|
Thanks
to our nearly 300 attendees, sponsors and speakers who turned out to our
Jam in Las Vegas at CTIA! The event was a great success with a wide array of
companies, interests and viewpoints. We had lots of great
discussion, interaction and education, and squeezed in plenty of fun as well, including
our first annual paper airplane contest to mix things up during the
reception. See this blog for a full report and more photos.
A
big part of every WIPJam is the deep-dive Discussion Groups. Like every part of the Jam, they're built
around community participation, not top-down lecturing or sales pitches. By
bringing in everybody's knowledge and know-how, we're able to help each other
grow and succeed.
Check out the notes from each of the sessions and keep the discussion going on Merchandising
Apps, Cross Platform development, Mobile Web Development, Social Networking,
Location, Features phone and quick messaging devices and Emerging Devices.
