Hi ! Happy New Year everyone! We think 2010 is going to be great. We see the mobile industry continuing to grow; and opportunities for developers continuing to get better. We at WIP expect to grow along with YOU. 2010 Predictions for Mobile Development starts us off! This year you get an extra boost of vision, as Thibaut Rouffineau, our VP of Developer Partners joins me to weigh in with his thoughts too. The full predictions are up on our blog and here are the highlights: From Thibaut: - Android saves Google in Europe in the face of increasing legal & regulatory
pressures.
- Android becomes the de facto standard for enterprise application and devices
- The mobile developer / marketing scene reorganizes
- Increasing importance of security and identity providers
- The first mobile application developed on a mobile device or netbook is
published
From me: 1. More Android - here an Android, there an Android,
everywhere an Android....2. More BlackBerry - leading the party3. Less iPhone - consumers get 'smarter' about
Kleenex4. More Application Innovation - we are going to say WOW this year! And our New Year's Resolutions for Mobile Developers: As last year - continue to follow the money. ****************** We are excited to launch a new version of our website - go to www.wipconnector.com to check it out. What we've done is combined our former WIPConnector site with the WIPwiki site, and will soon also combine the WIPJam site. Having three sites, with three different CRMs was a challenge. Our site also needs to hang together as it really has three purposes: to showcase WIP, to provide information about the mobile developer ecosystem; and to provide a connection point for the community. We think the new site gives a better picture of who WIP is and our activities. It also gives us an opportunity to launch some new membership and marketplace features in the coming months. It's still a work in progress (a WIP, with pun intended!), so we appreciate your patience or helpful comments! A new application on the website is the WIP Event Wiki.It still lists the events of our marketing partners - but it's now a wiki, so go ahead and add your event too. Talk to Teresa if you are interested in a marketing partnership or advertising. In November we launched our App Store Wiki with 20 stores - there are now 32 detailed profiles! Check out the information below for some of Thibaut's analysis, and get access to the January AppStoreMatrix pdf to give you great comparison information.
Where to find us next:- AT&T Developer Summit - January 6, 2010 - at CES, in Las Vegas. In addition to facilitating an Executive Briefing session, join Teresa and I for the WIP Quiz at the start of the Code Camp to test your recall skills and win some cool swag (You'll find out who the Ghost is on the right.)
- San Francisco - January 12-14, 2010 - I'll be there for meetings, in particular with a group from SingTel. See you soon! Best, Caroline

Update on the App Store Wiki
|
Our WIP APP STORE WIKI continues to grow and now showcases 32 App Stores, up from 20 only two months ago. If we are to judge future smartphone platform success by the number of
appstores distributing their apps, Android has a slight lead with 53% of
appstores distributing Android apps, followed by Windows Mobile with 50% (mostly
for historical reason one could claim), Blackberry with 40% and Symbian with
37.5% are forming a second group of established players, followed by iPhone and
Palm with 19% closing the ranks.
You can read additional analysis in Thibaut's blog article; and download the pdf for the January update to the AppStore matrix for easy comparison.

Update on new Wiki Resources for Developers
|
We observed over many years, that the very successful development companies were
the ones that not only understood their ecosystem, but were 'connected' to many
of the players in it. Our WIPwiki is based on an ecosystem chart we developed several year ago. We renamed the WIPwiki to Wiki Resources on the new site; which now lists 385 companies that support mobile development. Use it as your market intelligence to find the companies necessary
to speed your time to market.
Three new companies Added in December were:
Sevenval: For (mobile) web developers, the company offers the Sevenval FITML Platform, a
web based development and runtime environment, to create and publish mobile
websites optimized to thousand of mobile devices. Mediality: We enable web hosted and standalone multimedia related apps on the mobile to
extend their Interactive user interface reach to the mobile users home TV via a
application disc into ANY low cost BD-live blu-ray player. Perfecto: The Perfecto Mobile's Handset Cloud Service enables developers and testers
located anywhere in the world to access a comprehensive range of the latest
mobile handsets over the web.
Add a new company, or Comment on one you have worked with.
