Welcome to the February 09 WIP newsletter; the late newsletter.  As a small business, with global reach, and hopefully making a positive impact on our mobile development ecosystem; there is a never ending 'todo' list.  Making decisions on how to make the best use of our time and resources to build the business is a constant; often getting behind on activities like writing new business plans and putting out monthly newsletters; when events like MWC and CTIA loom large with deadlines that can't get pushed back.  And then there is all the social networking tools to stay on top of; I feel a little like the passed over school kid when I can't keep up.  We are still having lots of fun!
 
February equals Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, or  #MWC09 in twitter speak.  WIP has upped its presence there with four WIPsters, so be sure to say hi to Teresa Ostman who heads up Marketing Partnerships & Events,  Arv Singh, VP Go to Market Services, a business development god, and Ed Kay leading the charge on Developer Programs and Ecosystem Services; and find us active at these activities:

- Monday:  The GSMA's Developer Application Garage is on all day in Hall 5.  I'm Chairing the afternoon session and moderating the 2pm session on Developer Relationships with Operators - send me some questions to pose to the speakers.
- Tuesday Canada is hosting a breakfast with bubbly, where I'm speaking on Partnerships with 70 slides in 15 minutes, stop by to check it out at 9:30am,  Hall 2, Room C.  That is followed by a Connect with Africa Lunch in the same room at 11:30am where I'm on a panel.
- Wednesday is the Pre-Jam party to Connect with sponsors and attendees before the event, starts immediately following the GoMo News Blender at 9:30pm at Bel Chica.
- Thursday of course is our WIP Jam - Day for Developers, with a hot lineup of 38 speakers, 1 Unpanel and 8 great topics.  Haven't signed up yet?  Don't miss out!! 
 
And the ABC's?
First we've tried to make it simple for Developers.  Did you know that there are over 1300 exhibition booths at MWC?  We have narrowed it down to 40 must sees for Developers, suggested some events, and put it all into a one pager.  That's right, see all of MWC with just one piece of paper, we call the Developer's Survival Guide to MWC.  Download a pdf copy here,  check out the mobile version here thanks to our friends at Mobify.me  or find us on site.   
 
We've also set up a Scavenger Hunt for WIPJam attendees to get have some fun during the week and be eligible for some surprises like Sony Ericsson phones, Adobe's Creative Suite, t-shirts and other goodies.
 
We do expect MWC to be very focused on "A" thought.  "A" for APP shops, expect a few announcements for new ones, and others that are getting a rehaul.  And "A" for APIs.  GSMA is sharing information on its One API initiative, working with mobile operators to coordinate APIs.  And OMTP has announced the release of BONDI 1.0 with a detailed set of terminal requirements and specifications.  Both will be providing demos at WIPJAM on Thursday at lunch. 
 
Looking forward to seeing you in Barcelona.  We have a few party tickets to give away - but you'll have to find us onsite!
 
Next Up:
March will find us at the OSiM event in San Francisco, March 11 and 12.
April 2 is the next WIPJAM session at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas, which will come up way quicker than we think.
