News from WIP
November 2008

Dear

Developers Rock TshirtOur 'Developers Rock' t-shirts were a big hit at our recent Mini-Jam session in October.  You'll have to attend the next Jam Session to get one!   Besides being very hot, they fit well with the the title from an old Billy Squire tune "Everybody wants you!" which seems to be the current theme for developers - cranked LOUD.  From David Wood at Symbian saying:  "The most important three words to determine the long-term success of any mobile operating system are: Developers, Developers, Developers", to recent launches of new developer programs such as Acision, O2's Litmus, Samsung, LG, and many other smaller  companies with various forms of dev programs.  We've tried to keep our list up to date in the WIPwiki, please add others or comment on the ones that you think are doing a great job.

Developers are gaining more recognition and power and finally, a bigger piece of revenue.  Yeah for that!  Developer companies as a whole tend to be smaller, but their impact and innovation on the industry is as significant as what the big guys are doing.

It's been another busy month since our last newsletter, such as our Mini-Jam Session at the Symbian Smartphone Show to my keynote of the Builders Track at the Mobile 2.0 Conference earlier this week in San Francisco.  All of us at WIP see and hear a lot over the course of our travels and conversations, so it makes it difficult to identify the pithiest content for a monthly newsletter.  After much prodding from our peers and readers, we will relaunch our blog (Wireless in Progress) before the end of the year;  I've also starting Twittering (mobilejam); so we can share more of the tidbits along the way.  I think I'm going to use it to rate the big corp cafeteria's I've been in - notable of late the Google office in London and the Adobe office in San Francisco!

We're working on our next round of Jam sessions - see below for our call for Developers for our Advisory Group, as well as speakers and sponsors.

NEXT STOPS to find WIP in person:

Best, Caroline
