A Unique Opportunity for Evaluation and Consultation

Because June will be working with the students during the three days, she will not be available to provide consultation to other artists during the workshop.

Some of our Northern California artists have asked for an opportunity to have a private consultation and evaluation from June.  She has agreed to make limited number of appointments available to meet with individual artists to evaluate their art, share artist techniques,  and answer questions they may have about being published or

becoming a professional artist.  Please call the gallery for specifics.

About June Carey

American Art Magazine says, "June Carey captures the essence of California's landscapes and seascapes like no other artist. June found inspiration in California's "Plein Air" (painting outdoors) movement of the 1980's. She developed a unique style, incorporating both intense color and dramatic lighting effects, with which she pulls the viewer into the historic California mission scenes, wine country landscapes, and Pacific Coast scenes that she loves to paint."

June began painting full time in 1982, doing her time as a starving artist while raising her young son. She was happy to trade this tragic cliché for the happy success of sell-out gallery shows and award banquets. In 1991, she married award wining maritime artist David Thimgan, and the camaraderie and competitiveness of their relationship inspired continued growth in each of their unique styles of art.

The artist is known for her images of wine country and quiet peaceful spaces of California and Tuscany. Her interest in California's vineyard scenes has taken her to the countryside of Tuscany, where she is renovating a home she recently found which she says is "between vines and sunflowers."

One of June's newest paintings is the beautiful Sunflowers of Castiglion Fiorentino.  Castiglion Fiorentino is a small walled city nestled against the foothills of the Apennine Mountains which reside in Tuscany. The artist reminisced recently to one of her clients, describing the area, "It is in magical places such as this that the soul of the region rests. On the peaceful flatland of the Val di Chio, just below the city, I climbed out onto the floor of this field of sunflowers. They were tall and I wanted to stand among them, to look up and see the sun glowing through

their golden crowns.  It was an amazing field and I felt a sense of duty to capture it."
