This fall, well-known landscape artist Charles White will teach the techniques of landscape painting. "Plein Aire" painters work on location to quickly capture the changing light that occurs in nature, giving the artwork the reality that cannot be achieved any other way. The look gives the viewer the feeling and sense of being right there with the artist - right there in the scene. Participants will paint in the near countryside and hill towns of Tuscany near Sienna, Lucca, Florence, Pisa and Santa Ana.
Enrollment is limited to a small number of participants who will spend part of each day painting under the artist's guidance. Guests will enjoy the benefits of a small, intimate group setting by receiving personal, one-on-one instruction from Charles White based on individual skill level. In addition, the painters will escape on short day excursions to classic vistas of villages, hamlets, hilltowns and seascapes.
Participants will have the choice of staying in a historic Tuscan home or at nearby hotels for 9 days/8 nights. There will also be time for sightseeing, shopping, beachcombing and naps. Those not participating in the painting workshops will receive a list of sites, points-of-interest and activities in the area. Local public transportation is available daily to Florence, Pisa and other Tuscan locales.

Workshop Package Includes:

The workshop fee is $2250 (for a double occupancy room). Spouses or guests sharing a room and not taking the painting workshop are welcome and can spend time walking on the beach - just 2 kilometers away - shopping at the large mercato in Viareggio or Lucca, or enjoying local sites. A list of sites will be made available and there is local transportation as well. Fee for spouses/guests not in class is $1650. Please note: Airfare is not included in the package fee.

Who can attend?
The workshop will accommodate beginners to advanced painters. All are welcome and will receive the proper instruction and support they need.
What is required?
All participants are required to have a valid passport and to have travel insurance in case of emergency.
Will there be time to see the sites? Yes, as the painting schedule allows. There are many sites to see in Tuscany, from the hills to the small towns. We will make every effort to provide all participants with good material for our canvas and a feast for the eyes and soul. "Every view is a canvas," a past participant said.
What is covered?
Almost all expenses while in the workshop are covered. This includes lodging, many of the meals, and transportation to and from airport, workshops and visiting sites in the area. Participants may choose to spend time in many places including Pisa, Santa Ana, Lucca, Sienna and Florence.
What payment options are there?
Yes, the gallery can accept your Visa, Mastercard or American Express. In addition it can offer you interest free financing for 3, 6 or 12 months, through American General. A refundable deposit of $500 will hold your space.  | |
 About the Artist Charles White
Charles White has more than 40 years experience painting landscape and garden portraits, honing his skills and mastering classic principles of design, color, contrast
and lighting. White's experience will guide participants in light and shadow techniques known as "Plein Aire" which puts painters on location to quickly capture the changing light that occurs in nature.
White is also known for his art workshops in Northern California, Oregon, Washington
and Vancouver. He has a unique ability to work with students whether they are
new to a brush or professional artists -- giving each fresh views of settings.
Past students have loved his individualized
instruction. "Charles changed my thinking about the way I view my
setting and the way I paint. Moving my brush to create has become part
of me, like I never thought I could before."
