Greetings! ,

I was up last night watching TVW and the events unfolding in today's headlines:

BUDGET COUP UPDATE: GOP Seizes Control of Senate, Passes Their Own Budget, Special Session Looms   -publicola

"Last night was a "Roll Call Hall of Shame" according to Rep Gerry Pollett (D-46) at the State Capital.  Democrats who watched TVW last night witnessed a rather shocking display  when three Senate Democrats crossed the "aisle" in a "take-over" move by Senate Republicans."  -Of Paramount Importance

"This Is a Breaking of Faith" - Majority Leader Lisa Brown

"The Senate Republicans have exercised the worst abuse of power I have ever witnessed in the legislature. It says something about them that the minute they gained power, they abused it."

-Speaker Frank Chopp

"... in an affront to the people of our state, Senate Republicans moved to enact a budget without any public hearing or discussion. This budget constitutes a back-room deal, crafted in secret, and proposed in the dark of night."  -Senator Tracey Eide

Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown and Sen Ed Murray issued the following statement regarding a Republican maneuver to pass a budget never publicly heard in committee: Senate Democrats Blog.

The three Senators who joined forces with Republicans were Jim Kastama (D-25, Puyallup), Tim Sheldon(D-35, Potlatch) and Rodney Tom (D-48, Bellevue)

I support the call to action from our neighbors in the 46th LD-check this link:   http://groups.yahoo.com/group/46-Democrats/message/2479

What can you do? As Democrats, you can post on your Facebook pages and emails to your friends in other Districts telling them to tell their legislators that they will work tirelessly to defeat anyone who votes for this backroom deal to destroy education, health, family planning and the environment.
Email Democratic Senators and encourage them to keep going and thank them first.last@leg.wa.gov... eg. maralyn.chase@leg.wa.gov.

 2012 Democratic Precinct Caucus

April 15th, 1pm

On Sunday, April 15, 2012, our party will begin the process of reelecting President Barack Obama and electing Jay Inslee as the next Governor of Washington. The process of selecting delegates to the national convention in North Carolina begins with precinct caucuses.

We selected eight locations throughout the district to hold the caucuses: Broadview-Thompson Elementary, Shorecrest High School, Meridian Park Elementary, Richmond Masonic Center, Cristwood, Madrona School, and Edmonds-Woodway High School. A broad sketch of the caucus locations is below. In addition to these locations, Alan Charnley will host a caucus at his house. Each caucus will convene at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 15.

The second step of the process will be our Legislative District Caucus at Edmonds-Woodway High School on Saturday, April 28 at 10:00 am.

The full list of dates as well as other information can be found at
and will be posted on our website within a couple of weeks.

In a follow up email, we will let you know who your area coordinator will be and exactly where you will caucus. We will answer any and all questions you may have at the district's monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 14th at the Richmond Masonic Center.

Additionally, TVW is offering a new legislative tracking service called  SCOUT.

"As the 2012 Legislative Session begins, citizens who want to monitor specific legislation or track the public policy issues they care most about now have a free new tool to use from TVW.

The new public service, called SCOUT, will transform the way citizens use TVW to access information about the State Legislature, the Supreme Court, state government and the public policy process, according to TVW President Greg Lane

"SCOUT gives anyone the ability to quickly and easily follow the issues they care most about," said Lane of the new public legislative tracking service launched today by TVW.
