Dear ,
"I can't live with this budget" - Governor Christine Gregoire
Today marks the opening day of the 2010 legislative session in Olympia. We wish our State Senator, Darlene Fairley, and our State Representatives, Maralyn Chase and Ruth Kagi the best as they work to find a way to alleviate the $2.6 billion revenue shortfall the state faces. This session you can follow the House Democrats at the Advance and the Senate Democrats at the Hopper.
There is lots going around locally in the new year. Last week, district members gathered in Shoreline and in Edmonds to watch the swearing in of our new and returning councilmembers. In Shoreline, the Council elected Democrats Keith McGlashan as Mayor and Will Hall as Deputy Mayor. Kenmore will elect its Mayor tonight.
Voters across the district will vote on school levies and bonds on February 9. We encourage everyone to cast their ballots when they arrive next week. For more information on these bonds and levies, check out the links: Edmonds, Northshore, Shoreline. At our Wednesday meeting at the Shoreline American Legion Hall, we expect that the rules will be suspended, allowing for consideration of endorsements or resolutions of support for these measures. As usual, the meeting begins at 7 pm, with a social hour at 6:30.
Fired up!
