"Will [R-71] some day lead to gay marriage? We sure hope so."

- Spokesman (Spokane) Review
Dear ,

Please, Remember to Vote.

Voter turnout for off-year elections is much less than in Presidential years, but the issues that we face remain important to our neighbors. Will we strip away equal rights from our friends? Will we cripple the amount of money that can be spent educating our children? Referendum 71 and Initiative 1033 will have lasting impacts on the future of our State.

Our local candidates would like your vote too. We want our school board, city council members, and county executives to represent our Democratic values - support for the environment, support for universal human rights, support for economic justice - and respect all residents in our community.

Please consider helping our cause - help us GOTV. Please volunteer to make phone calls to infrequent voters. Please help distribute our candidate's literature. Please make a donation to support our Democratic efforts.

Your vote matters - and so does your neighbor's.

Fired up!

32nd District Democrats Sample Ballot

In non-partisan elections, it is often difficult to know what values candidates hold. In order to receive the endorsement of the 32nd District Democrats, each candidate was vetted by an endorsement committee and/or the membership and endorsed by at least 60% of the District's membership.

A full list of endorsements can be found at http://www.32democrats.org/page/8988.

If you would like to share our endorsements with your friends and neighbors, a printer-friendly ballot can be found here (.pdf).

For the past couple of years, I have brought you news from the 32nd District Democrats, and served you as the grassroots Obama captain in 2008, and now as one of your representatives to the Washington State Democratic Central Committee. I am now running for Shoreline City Council, Position 7.

I believe it is important to have Democrats elected on our local governments because you should be confident that your officials represent your values. I am running for City Council because we need more members of the Council who will listen to every resident, educator, and business leader in the City. On the Council, I will continue to advocate against the siting of a jail at Aldercrest, against large scale development at Point Wells, and for the protection and preservation of our parks and open space.

I know that there is more that unites our City, more that unites our Party, than divides it. We should vote for candidates who represent your values - candidates that will respect all of our residents and our neighborhoods, value public input and transparency, and advocate for our Democratic values.

Please consider making a contribution to my campaign, and please vote for me for Position 7.
October Meeting

At the October meeting the membership suspended the rules and voted to endorse Bob Rosenburg for King County Assessor. The District also voted to endorse both  Jim Kenny and Mark Roe for Snohomish County Prosecutor (a vacant position.   Snohomish County PCOs will forward the name of 3 candidates to the County Council to choose from for Prosecutor on November 14).

For the November meeting we will continue this conversation "Identify your own Democratic Values." Each person will complete one section of the 32nd Dems questionnaire, at the meeting we will break up into groups for each section, discuss the items we liked or had difficulty answering.  Each group will be moderated by a candidate who has already done this for the endorsement process. Would you endorse yourself in light of your values?
