A's Welcome Godzilla to Lineup
Look for an influx of fans from Japan at the Coliseum this summer. The Oakland Athletics signed baseball legend Hideki Masui, formerly of the Yankees and Angels. Matsui will be the designated hitter for the Oakland A's, a team he admired as a teenager. The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum is planning to create a separate press room for Japanese media who swarm. However many home runs he scores, the A's are guaranteed a spotlight in the post-season: the movie version of "Moneyball", the story of general manager Billy Beane's baseball team on a budget, is due out this fall. It stars Brad Pitt and includes scenes filmed at the Coliseum. Book tickets here.

| Enjoy Art and Fly OAK
Aside from terminals, shops and restaurants, art has become a staple at the Oakland International Airport. Visitors to Oakland can get a taste of the diverse local arts the minute they step off the plane. The Airport Media Wall, located in the Southwest baggage claim, has been created to display the commissioned works from a selection of local artists. The wall includes videos from several different artists, including a video mosaic of the people and places in Oakland, abstract documentations of daily interactions in Oakland, and other representations of the diversity here in the Bay Area. A call for new artists to contribute to the Media Wall will be open until March 11, 2011, so keep an eye out for a new mix of videos on the Media Wall soon.
