PaellaDashe Cellar's Paella Fiesta       

Tap into Spanish culture this month at Dashe Cellar's annual Paella Fiesta, held November 13 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. The event will feature creations from paella chef Gerard Nebesky, a variety of Spanish cheeses, Flamenco dancers and of course, Dashe Cellar's spectacular wines! Piedmont Avenue - A Culinary Hot Spot

Whether you're in the mood for some upscale dining or simple delicacies, Oakland's Piedmont Avenue has it all. Commis offers Michelin-star quality cuisine with a four course prix menu. Adesso offers house-made salumi toFentons Kid accompany wine and cocktails. At Dopo, Adesso's sister restaurant, the menu ranges from raw fish crudo to lasagna and pizza. For an Ethiopian flare, try Messob's traditional injera and authentic sauces. Uptown's New Pick: Plum

Celebrated Bay Area chef Daniel Patterson, best known for his complex concoctions and bold mixing of flavors at Coi, brings his rich taste to Oakland's newest Uptown eatery, Plum. Warm up with some cheesy chickpea fritters to start, followed by an assortment of fresh appetizers including chicory salad and roasted beets with onions. Vegetarian options include new harvest potatoes, with fresh shallots, Chanterelle mushrooms and wild arugula, and olive oil braised cauliflower. For the second course entree, try the roasted pork or beef cheek and oxtail burger. Meals end with a not-too-sweet treats such as peppercorn sorbet with Blue Bottle coffee. Plum offers a modern twist on upscale cuisine - a perfect reflection of Oakland's culinary scene.

SR24's Roast Chicken

If turkey dinner isn't your forte for Thanksgiving, look no further. SR24 shares their secrets for the delectable roast chicken. A great alternative to the traditional holiday meal, SR24's chicken can be simply recreated with these easy steps.


Ingredients (outside the chicken):

Zest of one lemon

1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 tbsp Kosher salt

1 tbsp course ground black pepper

 

Ingredients (inside the chicken):

 

Chopped roughly:

1 organic lemon

1 fresno chili

4 leaves fresh sage

6 sprigs Italian parsley

1 sprig fresh rosemary

2 cloves fresh garlic

1 small yellow onion

1 shallot

1 tbsp whole fenugreek

1 tbsp whole yellow mustard seeds

4 whole allspice berries

4 whole cloves

1/2 tsp fresh ground nutmeg

1 tsp whole caraway seeds

1 tsp whole cumin seeds

1 tbsp whole black peppercorns

 

Roast at 350 Fahrenheit for 45 minutes in a convection oven (or about an hour in a conventional oven), until golden brown and internal temperature of 165 degrees F is reached.
