Bill Nye at Chabot
Who says climate change can't be funny? The Chabot Space & Science Center's new exhibit "Bill Nye's Climate Lab" features the world-famous science guru and comedian's explanation of global issues and how individuals can help. On opening weekend, November 20-21, visitors are invited to board a hot air balloon, operate a wind turbine, learn about clean energy and participate in other interactive events. Kinetic Artist Takes Oakland Arts By Storm 
Most people look at a typewriter and think of words. Oakland's Jeremy Mayer looks at them and thinks of art. He carefully assembles typewriter components to create sculptures ranging from full-size human models to oversized insects. His unique creations have garnered attention from all over the world, including Wired magazine, CNET, Engadget and Oakland Magazine and his pieces, which range in prices from a few thousand dollars to $20,000 have been sold. Mayer is a member of Oakland's Applied Kinetic Arts community, artists who focus on works incorporating motion, light, sound and interactivity. Classical Entertainment For All to Enjoy

Opening the Symphony season this year will be a performance on November 19 and 20 by Narada Michael Walden with special guest Carlos Santana. The Oakland Ballet Company's new Artistic Director Graham Lustig presents his acclaimed production of the classic The Nutcracker at the Paramount Theatre in December.
