Concerts and Comedy Hit Oakland Stages
Eddie IzzardGet out your calendars: Top musical acts are playing to sold out crowds in Oakland. The dozens of headliners playing at the majestic Fox Oakland in October and November include Kylie Minogue, Echo & the Bunnyman, Puscifer, the Pixies and Widespread Panic. Across the street, the art deco Paramount Theatre hosts movie classics such as It Happened One Night, as well as the Oakland East Bay Symphony. In October, Carol Burnett, Noam Chomsky, Loggins & Messina and George Lopez each take the stage. Elton John and Billy Joel team up at the Oracle Arena on November 14. Crucible CathedralTwo of Oakland's most acclaimed arts organizations have new gallery spaces downtown. The Crucible, an arts collaborative know for its celebrated Fire Arts Festival, now exhibits works in the historic Cathedral Building at the triangle between Telegraph and Broadway. ProArts produces exhibitions at the Oakland Art Gallery at Frank Ogawa Plaza. Feel like mingling with artists and art lovers? Monthly Art Murmur, Estuary Art Attack and Third Thursdays events bring artists and art lovers together around town.

Start Sunday off slowly Crab Brunchwith a leisurely brunch and a spectacular view. The Terrace Room at the Lake Merritt Hotel serves up bottomless Mimosas, Bellinis and Bloody Mary's in a swanky supper-club atmosphere. OAK Tops On-Time Arrivals - Again
Oakland International Airport is at the top of the charts for August 2009 on-time arrivals, according to Flight Stats. Alaska and Southwest led the major airlines in on-time arrivals.
