Don't worry if you have time to grab a meal before heading to the airport. Three of Oakland's favorite local restaurants are opening at Oakland International Airport, joining a variety of other eateries. Restaurant Peony and Silver Dragon bring the authentic tastes of Chinatown to Terminal 1. Also located in Fruitvale, Otaez offers Mexican specialties at affordable prices. Each offers options for eating in or taking on the plane. Not hungry enough for a full meal? Grab a cone or a dish of ice cream from Fenton's Creamery - recently featured in the Pixar movie UP.
New Flights at OAK
Oakland is welcoming new travelers from Mexico on Volaris Airlines. Volaris now offers low-cost, nonstop service to OAK from Toluca (Mexico City) and Guadalajara, Mexico. Service from Tijuana to OAK begins August 28.
