New Restaurants Thrive in Oakland
An unparalleled arrival of new restaurants continues to change the landscape of Oakland's neighborhoods and breathe new life into downtown Oakland. New arrivals creating a buzz include: Pican, The Den @ the Fox Theater, Mimosa Champagne Lounge, Bellanico, Marzano, Flora, Ozumo, Camino and Sidebar. In recent months, Oakland restaurants have received national recognition and have been featured in such prominent magazines as Sunset, Bon Appétit and Food & Wine.
The vibrant Oakland food movement has created such a strong demand that the OCVB is now producing a monthly "Food and Drink" e-newsletter highlighting Oakland's culinary assets. Do you love food too? Mother's Day at Zoo and Chabot Space
Treat a mom to special days out at two of Oakland's favorite family-friendly destinations. At the Oakland Zoo she can start with brunch at the Island Café before heading out to see elephants, meerkats, giraffes, and much more. Best of all, train rides are Free for Moms all day on Mother's Day. Thanks to a grant from the Koret Foundation, admission for everyone is free on May 10 at the Chabot Space & Science Center. In addition to the regular exhibits, she'll get to experience the new Kinetic Sculpture by Reuben Margolin.
